Job Description Summary
The Education Program Manager is responsible for developing implementing and overseeing educational programs and outreach initiatives at the Hilbert Museum of California Art. This role engages diverse audiencesincluding K12 students teachers university faculty and the publicby creating meaningful learning experiences that connect with the museums exhibitions and collections. The Education Manager also serves as the primary liaison to local schools community organizations and university departments to promote arts education and access. Note that some weekend and evening events occur at the Museum at which staff attendance may be required. This position is eligible for participation in our health and welfare benefits supplemental retirement plan accrued sick time vacation and holiday pay.
Responsibilities
Educational Program Development and Implementation Design and execute innovative educational programs workshops and interpretive materials that align with the museums mission and exhibitions Develop curriculumbased materials and handson learning experiences for K12 students ensuring alignment with California education standards. Oversee the scheduling and facilitation of school and community group tours ensuring engaging ageappropriate content. Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for docents educators and volunteers leading museum tours. Collaborate with university faculty to raise awareness of museum resources and facilitate increased attendance by Chapman students. Community Outreach and Partnerships Build and maintain relationships with local school districts educators and community organizations to expand educational engagement. Cultivate longterm partnerships with school districts arts organizations and university departments to enhance educational programming and community engagement. Track outreach efforts and meet goals set for outreach activity ensuring outreach leads to increased museum attendance by schoolaged children and others. Promote the museums educational offerings including field trips workshops and classroom resources to teachers and administrators. Ensure that schools are aware of the Museums Busing Fund program which assists schools in accessing transportation subsidies for student visits. Represent the Museum at educationrelated events conferences and community meetings. Conduct inperson outreach in the community at educationrelated events and meetings. Program Administration and Evaluation Under the direction of the Museums Associate Director develop and track educational program budget and spending ensuring efficient resource allocation. Collect and analyze visitor feedback to assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement. Contribute to grant applications and fundraising efforts that support educational initiatives. Maintain organized records of program participation outreach efforts and audience engagement. Ensure compliance with university policies and procedures related to educational programming including those related to hosting minors on Chapmans campus. Staff and Volunteer Collaboration Guide colleagues and volunteers participation in education programs ensuring highquality program delivery. Incorporate guidance from the Museums Director and other staff members and collaborate with colleagues to align educational initiatives with institutional goals. Other Duties as Assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in education art history museum studies or a related field. Minimum of three to five years of experience in museum education arts programming or K12 educational outreach Excellent judgment tact and diplomacy; ability to represent Chapman University in a positive light with external constituents. Excellent communication and public speaking skills with the ability to engage a variety of audiences. Experience working with volunteers and developing educational partnerships. Ability to develop engaging interactive educational materials for different age ranges and audiences. Strong organizational and project management skills with attention to detail. Proficiency in digital communication tools and educational technology.
