Normal Work Schedule:Monday Friday 8:00am to 4:45pm

Job Summary:The Communications Specialist III writes and edits communications for a college division and/or the University under minimal supervision. Develops and implements plans activities and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms including digital and physical mediums. Participates in planning and of special projects to support the assigned areas overall development and marketing strategies.

Additional Department Summary:Writes and edits communications for the Division of Community Affairs under minimal supervision. Develops and implements plans activities and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms including digital and physical mediums. Participates in planning and of special projects to support the assigned areas overall development and marketing strategies.

Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree and five 5 years of journalism public relations marketing or communications experience; OR masters degree and three 3 years of journalism public relations marketing or communications experience.

Skills and Knowledge:Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Sound knowledge of journalistic principles. Direct experience working with designers web developers print shops and others in communications field. Ability to craft communication plans. Demonstrated skills in writing and editing website posting interpersonal skills and diplomacy. Ability to plan strategically as part of a team to develop and implement appropriate tactical support for the plan. Handles crisis communications as needed. Experience with AP Style I WordPress. Strong planning and organizational skills. Thorough attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:Experience in print web and editing/writing. Keen knowledge of AP Style with ability to edit quickly with a high percentage of accuracy. Experience with Adobe lnDesign Illustrator Photoshop Lightroom Premiere Pro After Effects Microsoft Office Suite digital photography photo editing WordPress and/or HTML/CSS. Experience using Elementor.
