Job Summary:
TheEHS Specialist will work closely in the manufacturing areas to support all future and ongoing environmental health and safety initiatives. This position will work with various departments to conduct risk assessments perform periodic EHS audits and establish procedures and policies related to the EHS function. The EHS Specialistwill report directly to the EH&S Manager and is responsible to lead motivate and foster a safetyconscious culture and ensure a safe healthy and accident free work environment. A successful health & safety coordinator must be committed to work hands on to help the entire team understand the companys commitment to safety and the need to follow the safety programs and should be committed to spending time in the manufacturing plants on a daily basis.
Job Duties:
Write and communicate safety standard operating procedures for office and manufacturing personnel.
Conduct periodic safety audits of all workplace facilities.
Partner with the Training & Development Coordinator to assist with the development and recordkeeping ongoing safety training.
Deliver periodic safety training with the Environmental Health & Safety manager (including day and evening classes).
Maintains safety library (e.g. videos regulations reference manuals).
Promotes safety and health awareness through internal company memoranda newsletters and specific training programs.
Reviews injury/illness and noninjury incident investigation reports and follows up as necessary.
Partner with departmental managers and conduct risk assessments where necessary.
Complete required federal state and local government reports. Maintain OSHA 300 log of occupational injuries and illnesses. Post the OSHA 300A Summary of WorkRelated Injury at each work location as required.
Serve as part of the safety committee and drive continuous improvement through the corrective action process.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements:
35 years experience in a manufacturing environment required
Proven experience understanding OSHA rules and regulations delivering policies and procedures and championing safety within a manufacturing environment
Excellent communication presentation organization and time management skills
Proficient at Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel PowerPoint Outlook)
Must exhibit a high degree of flexibility in their work load to tend to training sessions safety hazards etc.
Previous experience using a Safety Management System Tracker J.J. Keller preferred but not required
Work Environment:
This position will work in a manufacturing environment where moving mechanical parts produce noise. The Health & Safety Coordinator will be required to use a computer telephone and other office equipment in an office located on the manufacturing floor.
