Construction Safety Officer
Our client is looking for entry level candidates that would like to get into the construction safety field.
Job Overview:
The Construction Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all construction activities are carried out safely and in compliance with relevant laws regulations and company policies. The Construction Safety Officer reports directly to the Site Safety Manager and works closely with other members of the construction team to identify potential hazards develop safety plans and monitor work activities.
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure that all construction activities are being carried out safely and in accordance with relevant regulations and company policies.
- Develop and implement safety plans for all construction activities including but not limited to excavation scaffolding and electrical work.
- Provide safety training and guidance to construction workers and subcontractors to promote a culture of safety on the job site.
- Investigate accidents and incidents to identify the root cause and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Maintain accurate records of all safetyrelated incidents including nearmisses and injuries and report findings to the Site Safety Manager.
- Conduct regular safety meetings with the construction team to review safety performance discuss potential hazards and develop action plans to mitigate risks.
- Ensure that all safety equipment is properly maintained and in good working order including personal protective equipment fall protection systems and fire suppression equipment.
- Monitor the work of subcontractors to ensure that they are in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Stay uptodate with changes in safety regulations and industry best practices to ensure that the construction team is always working in accordance with current standards.
- Entry Level No Experience required.
- Excellent communication skills including the ability to communicate complex safety concepts to nontechnical personnel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Attention to detail with a focus on identifying potential hazards and developing effective safety plans.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a strong focus on collaboration and communication.
The Construction Safety Officer must be able to navigate a construction site including climbing ladders and scaffolding and may be required to lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds. The position may also require working in inclement weather conditions.
