East Suffolk Council is an exciting place to work delivering essential local services and making a real difference to a quarter of a million people across East Suffolk.

We currently have an opportunity to join East Suffolk Council as a Programme Officer(Energy Projects) in theEnergy Projects Team as part of our Energy Planning service area.

Reporting to the Energy Projects Programme Manager and working closely with the Energy Projects Manager this role will support the Councils programme management ofNationally Significant Infrastructure Projects (NSIPs) in the energy sector and will work closely with colleagues in the Energy Projects team and wider Planning service area.

The Energy Projects Team was created to enable the Council to be at the forefront of the numerous energy related projects proposed in East Suffolk and comprises town planners leading the planning side of NSIPs and a transport lead officer. The team engages with promotors of NSIPs at all stages of the consenting and delivery process such as the new nuclear Sizewell C project offshore wind proposals in the East Anglia Array multipurpose interconnectors from Suffolk to Europe and reinforcements to the electricity grid as well as support a number of other more local energyrelated projects including the operating Sizewell B station and the decommissioning Sizewell A station.

The role

We are seeking a Programme Officer to take responsibility for the administrative and project support to the team and Programme Manager. This is a key role providing day to day coordination of the teams activities to ensure delivery of their aims and objectives developing programmes and management tools to ensure deadlines are met diary management and ensuring the Councils role in responding to Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects and other major energy projects are achieved in a timely manner.

What you will need

You will actively engage with a wide range of stakeholders; including promotors internal teams and service areas other authorities and to ensure projects remain on track and outcomes are successfully delivered. In addition you will be responsible for organising and running events across the Suffolk system undertake research produce research material preparation and implementation of payments and funding obligations and prepare correspondence newsletters briefing notes and reports as appropriate.

You will be educated to degree level (or equivalent) and you will need to have relevant experience in an administrative support role including the coordination of meetings or events minute taking etc. Excellent organisational skills are therefore essential. Experience in NSIPs or planning is not essential.
