Position Summary
Join our dynamic maintenance team as an Electrical Technician! Youll apply your electrical expertise to test modify and maintain operational machinery and control equipment. Your role includes assembling and testing motorcontrol devices switch panels transformers solenoids and other components. Youll diagnose and resolve electrical or mechanical malfunctions perform preventive and corrective maintenance and handle hazardous waste management.
Position Scope
This is an inoffice position that works out of the Gurnee IL manufacturing site. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor. The Gurnee site is a 24/7 small batch chemical manufacturing operation sitting on 13 acres.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
List the key responsibilities for this role.
Inspection and Maintenance: Inspect production areas for hazards wear leaks and maintenance needs. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and handle hazardous waste management.
Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. Participate in safety processes and special committees.
Operational Support: Follow Standard Operating Procedures for tasks and permits. Respond to instructions from supervisors and planners. Obtain necessary permits for maintenance and project work.
Team Collaboration: Maintain clean and organized work areas. Collaborate effectively in a team environment. Communicate with contractors vendors and other departments.
Documentation and Reporting: Conduct and document safety and equipment inspections. Record accurate information on maintenance work orders. Enter time into CMMS weekly.
Technical Expertise: Work with technical groups on project needs. Recommend improvements to preventive maintenance work orders. Handle electrical troubleshooting and equipment maintenance.
Manage Maintenance Budget: Oversee the maintenance budget ensuring cost control and efficient resource allocation.
Maintain Inventory Control: Keep an inventory of spare parts and supplies ensuring availability when needed.
Prepare and Present Reports: Generate regular reports on maintenance activities equipment status and performance metrics.
Other duties as may be assigned.
Education & Experience:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent electrician certification strongly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of industrial electrical experience Chemical manufacturing experience preferred.
Knowledge Skills & Talents
Electrical Codes and Safety:
NEC training.
ARC FLASH knowledge (NFPA 70E).
Technical Skills:
Troubleshooting and communication.
Maintenance computer systems.
AC/DC voltage 24V 480V).
FLUKE MEGGERING METERS HART EQUIPMENT electrician tools.
Equipment and Instrumentation:
Electrical motors MCCs VFDs motor starters.
Industrial instrumentation (pressure temperature level calibration).
Automated valves.
Controls and Automation:
Ethernet operations PLCs wiring signal lines.
Packaging equipment (robot arms filling equipment conveyors palletizers stretch wrappers).
Electrical Installation:
Routing and bending conduit.
Pulling wire strands wiring terminations.
Working Conditions
The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time kneel bend climb stairs and use ladders and ability to lift heavy equipment and tools.
Pay and Benefits
The estimated base pay range for this position is $31/hr $46/hr. Actual pay will be determined based on education certifications experience qualifications skills and geographic location. This position is eligible to participate in a shortterm incentive program.
