AVIATION PROJECT ENGINEER

Westwood Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our Aviation service team in Houston Texas. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing highlevel professional services to our clients.
Our ideal candidate will have 3 years of diverse diverse airfielddesign experience. Candidates must have a willingness to perform a variety of tasks supporting various project types and project managers.
This position gives you the chance to work with an energetic aviation staff on a variety of projects such as airport planning airfield layout and design safety plans airfield civil design and construction projects facilities design and infrastructure and environmental studies. Westwoods Aviation group has a diversified range of projects that require preparing a variety of civil engineering and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) planning reports studies and plans for large complex projects in a timely and proficient nature to produce solutions for our clients success.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work with a team in the preparation of plans specifications and cost estimates for projects of various size and complexity
- Prepare plan documents and supporting design calculations
- Prepare detailed construction drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Assist project managers and other staff in design oversight coordination and other tasks during the proposal design and construction phases.
- Assist in cost estimating permitting client relations and other duties required to deliver a quality product for our clients in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with other project managers to scope and execute deliverables on multiple projects.
- Create and maintain a successful client relationship while building new relationships.
- Some project assignments may include construction observation duties.
- Mentor train and/or supervise the work of less experienced engineers and/or technical support personnel
- Ensures division regional and company values policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service
- Lead by example display solid judgment good values trust honesty openness and professionalism
Required Skills
- Working knowledge of aviation planning programming design and construction is a plus.
- Preferred candidate will have working experience with FAA Advisory Circulars and understanding of Bureau of Aeronautics policies and procedures.
- Construction and estimating experience for public infrastructure projects is a plus.
- Outgoing friendly approachable
- Excellent verbal written and interpersonal skills
- Strong sense of urgency and selfinitiative to meet project deadlines
- Detailoriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficient in Autodesk Civil3D and Microsoft Office applications
- Proficient in applying ADA/PROWAG criteria in public infrastructure design
- Competent technical skills required to complete engineering tasks
- Ability to delegate assignments and determine methods and procedures
- Must have a valid drivers license.
Required Experience
- BS in Civil Engineering
- Licensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Texas (or capable of obtaining within 6 months)
- 3 years of progressive experience in civil engineering preferred
