The Department of Economic Security Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Chief Medical Officer. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities and their families services and supports that are flexible high quality and member driven. These services empower individuals with developmental disabilities to lead selfdirected healthy and meaningful lives.
Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or a close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Provides clinical oversight & technical assistance in the provision of various communitybased inpatient outpatient & crisis services to DDD members through the Divisions subcontracted health plans and Tribal Health Program. Perform oversight of Health Plans contracted with the Division.
Assist the Department/Division staff in program oversight such as policy development audit quality management clinical practice guidelines and research. Development and implementation of clinical guidance documents policies procedures and plans.
Provides leadership in the development and implementation of utilization management medical management pharmacy dental and quality management programs. The position assists in the development of strategic plans annual plans and oversight of the operational reviews. Oversees the chief medical office data analytics team and incorporates data into healthcare decision making.
Completes activities associated with contract deliverables including but not limited to monitoring AdSS during ORs and Oversight Meetings; reviews and evaluates documents reports and deliverables submitted by AdSS; aggregates AdSS info into Division deliverables with AHCCCS; ensures timelines are met; reviews and is very knowledgeable of AHCCCS contract with Division.
Knowledge in:
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) rules regulations and medical policies.
Federal regulations related to Medicaid Medicare and private health insurance programs.
Federal program requirements for Title XIX and ICF/IID ALTCS AHCCCS quality assurance and utilization review.
General medical diagnoses and treatment principles.
Skills in:
Time management.
Oral and written communication.
Effective team participation as well as team management.
Using computer software (e.g. Google Microsoft Word Excel databases etc..
Ability to:
Evaluate data and documentation.
Relate to people with varying levels of knowledge about mental illness and developmental disabilities.
Work with other physicians and health professionals.
Meet deadlines.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
A Medical Degree from an accredited school of medicine or Osteopathic medicine with completion of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved internship residency and 3 years experience beyond completion of residency in (NOTE SPECIALTY). Prefer experience working with DD population range of disabilities served by DDD in AZ & familiarity with CMS regulations.
The candidate must possess a license to practice medicine in the state of Arizona granted by the Arizona Medical Board or the Arizona Board of Osteopathic Examiners or the ability to obtain such licensure prior to appointment.
Employee shall have a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41 2758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults.
Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Department of Child Safety Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46459.
Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C. R210207.11.
Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the abovementioned process and the agencys ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
