Strategic Autism Lead

Permanent

Working 32.5 hours per week

We are seeking a subject matter expert with significant experience in the Autism field of work. As part of the SEND Improvement programme we are working across the partnership (including with schools settings and families) to improve provision practice and outcomes for CYP with SEND and to embed a strong autism framework across both early years settings and schools. Our vision within Birmingham is to be an autism friendly city and this role will be key in our journey.

Retaining a focus on the lived experiences of CYP and their families we are looking for someone who can lead the development and delivery of an offer to parents of CYP with autism and to coproduce with them the ways of working for the future.

The work will involve mapping and analysing current practice and proposing improvements which leaders and their teams can implement to improve the quality of our work with an eye on delivering greater quality and improved impact and outcomes for the children and families we support.

We have a wellestablished Communication and Autism Team (CAT) who work closely with schools and families in offering advice bespoke training and in promoting best practice. We are looking for someone to bring additional capacity to the CAT leadership team in shaping industry recognised best practice which will deliver greatest impact on Birmingham children and support and enhance the delivery of our Autism Strategic goals.
