THE DEPARTMENT:
The Career Center is an integral part of the Office of Academic Innovation (AI) in the Office of Student Success Equity and Innovation in the Division of Academic Affairs. AI has as its primary goal to foster and advance a culture of innovation in teaching and learning at Cal Poly Pomona and curate experiential learning opportunities for the campus community. AI is responsible for the strategic tactical and operational oversight of the Career Center Center for Community Engagement Innovation Incubator Kellogg Honors College Office of Undergraduate Research Student Innovation Idea Lab and multiple institutionallevel initiatives and programs. The Career Center within AI has as its mission to lead develop and connect a diverse Cal Poly Pomona community in career readiness and prepare students for the future of work human and civic engagement; and as its vision to become a leader in the future of work human and civic engagement by creating an equityminded career readiness model while focusing on collaboration and becoming a valued part of the campus community. The Career Center focuses on reimagining student career and professional readiness and emphasizes personal career and professional development across the entire undergraduate experience. The Career Center will play a significant role in the highly visible campuswide initiative to cultivate students thriving inside and outside of the classroom while preparing them for successful future careers and professional engagements. The Career Center integrates existing resources programs and creates new initiatives that will benefit students throughout their learning journey as they prepare for meaningful postgraduation opportunities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
CAREER READINESS LEADERSHIP:
- Serve as the Lead Career Coach in the College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) supporting the campuswide career readiness initiative. Build strong relationships with all the functional areas necessary to support career and professional readiness including working with FYE faculty CEIS Student Success Center employers alumni event coordinator etc.
- Closely collaborate with and support the dean faculty and staff in CEIS in relation to career and professional readiness of their students. Develop and implement trainings incorporating and integrating career education into curricula and cocurricular activities.
- As funds are available recommend for hire develop and train additional CEIS career team members who will help support and deliver a comprehensive and customized careerreadiness model within CEIS.
- Set strategy for industry aligned career development services that are responsive to student needs and aligned with college departmental and institutional goals.
- Ensure that daytoday operations of CEIS career readiness model are appropriately directed efficient and effective.
- Work collectively and collaboratively with the other College Lead Career Coaches to develop innovative approaches and implement new and best practices share resources and produce institutionlevel events such as campuswide career fairs.
- Design and deploy appropriate assessment activities to measure outcomes and impact.
- Present data and metrics to CEIS faculty and staff to create strategies for increasing the career engagement of students.
CAREER READINESS PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT:
- Lead programs and services for the College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) that provide personalized career counseling and advising that focuses on selfassessment research job and internship search strategies reflection and strategic decision making.
- Develop a comprehensive set of events such as lectures speaker series workshops conferences trainings cultural events etc. in collaboration with internal & external resources.
- Build students career confidence and social capital through CEIS strategic programming and creating career content/materials.
- Conduct classroom and student organization presentations for CEIS on various careerrelated topics including promoting programs and skill development to support career readiness and planning.
- Oversee event logistics and assist in creating marketing materials/communication for CEIS to effectively promote to faculty staff and students.
EMPLOYER ENGAGEMENT:
- Partner with internal/external departments faculty alumni and employers to identify career pathways for CEIS students and create an outreach plan to engage organizations that will result in opportunities spanning a broad range of industries.
- Establish and cultivate effective working relationships with key stakeholders oncampus and offcampus. Attend events and professional meetings to stay current on career and employment trends and ensures the Career Center maintains a presence oncampus as the experts in career development and programming. Collaborate with campus departments to coordinate career programs. Serve on University committees and provide insights and information to the community on career services.
- Identify opportunities and strategies for connecting students with alumni and industry experts who will provide academic and/or career resources such as mentoring coaching lectures workshops etc.
- Establish and enhance employer relationships increase the quantity quality and diversity of job and internship opportunities and engage employers and alumni to provide programs to help students compete effectively for opportunities of interest.
- Support the development of partnerships between CEIS and external communities (corporations public sector and nonprofit entities) to build projectbased experiential learning internship and fulltime employment opportunities for CEIS students.
- Perform outreach to CEIS alumni Cal Poly Pomona alumni and a wide range of employers industry organizations and networks for the purpose of fostering peertopeer networking developing and strengthening specific employer relationships and identifying employment networks to benefit current students and alumni.
CAREER READINESS PROGRAM ASSESSMENT:
- Lead the evaluation and assessment efforts of the College of Education and Integrative Studies (CEIS) career ready initiative generating surveys and reports to facilitate data collection and progress reports.
- In collaboration with Career Center Director develops & implement evaluation processes including quantitative & qualitative measurements that ensure that program benchmarks are successfully attained and communicated in a timely and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with internal/external resources to develop meaningful outcome measurements and methods of program evaluation that will lead to enhancement.
- Ensure accurate student reporting in CPP Connect and other areas that require careerrelated data tracking.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Combination Equivalent to graduation from a fouryear college or university in a related field plus upper division or graduate course work in counseling techniques interviewing and conflict resolution where such are job related.
- Valid in State Driver License
- Possession of these knowledge and abilities is typically demonstrated through the equivalent to four years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience which includes experience in advising students individually and in groups and in analysis and resolution of complex student services problems.
- A masters degree in Counseling Clinical Psychology Social Work or a jobrelated field may be substituted for one year of professional experience. A doctorate degree and the appropriate internship or clinical training in counseling guidance or a jobrelated field may be substituted for two years of the required professional experience for positions with a major responsibility for professional personal or career counseling.
- Thorough knowledge of the policies procedures and practices of the program area to which assigned or the ability to quickly acquire such knowledge. General knowledge of the policies practices and activities of Student Services programs outside the program to which immediately assigned; general knowledge of the principles problems and methods of public administration including organizational personnel and fiscal management; general knowledge of advanced statistical and research methods.
- Ability to carry out very complex assignments without detailed instructions; advise students individually or in groups on varied and complex matters; determine the appropriate course of action and proper techniques to utilize while engaged with individuals and groups in personal interactions of a sensitive nature; reason logically and analyze and solve organizational and operating problems of one or several program areas; plan coordinate and initiate actions necessary to implement administrative or group decisions or recommendations; analyze and define complex organizational policy or procedural problems collect and evaluate data draw valid conclusions and project consequences of various alternative courses of action; understand the roles and responsibilities of others and to gauge relationships accordingly by taking into account the variety of the interrelationships motivations and goals of the members of the organization served; and establish and maintain effective cooperative and harmonious working relationships in circumstances which involve the denial of requests or the necessity to persuade others to accept a different point of view.

CSU Classification Salary Range
This position is part of the APC bargaining unit 4. The CSU Classification Standards for this position are located on theCSU Classification Standards CSU Salary Schedule is located on theCSU Salary Schedule website. The classification salary range for this position according to the respective skill level is: minimum $6320 and maximum $9014 per month. Please refer to the anticipated hiring range for the appropriate salary rate for this particular position.

University Driving Requirement
Positions that require driving for university business by using a personal or state vehicle must comply with the Authorized University Driver Policy. Driving records are monitored and evaluated by the Risk Management Department. The Risk Management Department evaluates a good driving report based on the following criteria. The driver must: 1.
