Job Description

Middle School WorkBased Learning Program Support Staff (April Vacation) Salem Public Schools Salem MA

Program Dates: April 21st April 25th 2025 10:00 AM 1:00 PM Daily)

Location: YMCA Salem MA

Program Overview:

The Salem Public Schools in partnership with the YMCA is offering a targeted workbased learning program for middle school students during April vacation. This program aims to develop essential job readiness skills and provide students with exposure to specific career fields. Students will participate in handson activities and learning experiences in small groups 45 students) focused on developing applicable skills.

Job Summary:

The Middle School WorkBased Learning Program Support Staff will play a crucial role in supporting a small group of middle school students throughout the program. Responsibilities include providing socialemotional support mitigating conflict assisting with content management ensuring daily attendance and maintaining communication with families. This position requires a staff who has experience working with SPS middle school students. Looking for individuals with a passion for working with middle school students and promoting their success.

Responsibilities:

  • Student Support:
    • Provide social and emotional support to a group of 45 middle school students.
    • Assist students with content management and ensure their active participation in program activities.
    • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
    • Monitor student behaviors and help resolve conflicts.
  • Attendance and Communication:
    • Ensure daily attendance of assigned students.
    • Follow up with families regarding daily attendance program highlights and any challenges encountered.
    • Maintain clear and consistent communication with program coordinators and YMCA staff.
  • Program Participation:
    • Attend a mandatory program staff meeting during the week of April 14th to review program details and student profiles.
    • Actively participate in all program activities and adhere to program guidelines.
    • Support the overall program structure and goals.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with middle school students preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to provide social and emotional support to students.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Ability to maintain professional communication with families.
  • Ability to pass a background check.

Additional Information:

  • This is a temporary position for the duration of the April vacation program.
  • Program staff will meet daily at the YMCA.
  • Training and support will be provided.

Compensation: $1200
