About Barn Sanctuary

Barn Sanctuary is a leading 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing rehabilitating and providing lifelong care for abused and neglected farmed animals. Our mission is to change the way the world views farmed animals and to promote compassionate living through rescue education and advocacy. We envision a world in which farmed animals are seen as individuals who are treated with compassion and where plantbased sustainable alternatives replace the use of animals for food and products. We are seeking an enthusiastic and visionary Executive Director to take the helm of our organization and lead us into the next chapter of our story.

Position Summary

The Executive Director will play a pivotal role in advancing Barn Sanctuarys mission and will be responsible for overseeing the strategic operational and financial aspects of the organization. This dynamic leader will work closely with the Board of Directors staff volunteers donors and the community to ensure the sustainability and growth of Barn Sanctuary. The ideal candidate will be a passionate advocate for animal welfare and will possess the skills and experience necessary to lead and inspire our team while driving meaningful change.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Vision
  • Provide inspiring leadership and vision to advance the mission of Barn Sanctuary.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to ensure longterm sustainability and growth.
  • Foster a positive inclusive and productive organizational culture.

Operational Management
  • Oversee the daytoday operations ensuring effective implementation of programs and services.
  • Manage the annual budget of $1 million ensuring financial sustainability and accountability.
  • Supervise and support a team of 1520 staff members a team of outstanding volunteers promoting professional development and performance excellence.
  • Through collaboration with the Board and by employing rigorous project management fundamentals lead Barn Sanctuarys transition to its Forever Home

Fundraising and Development
  • Lead fundraising initiatives and cultivate relationships with donors sponsors and grantmaking organizations.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive development plans to secure financial support for the organizations programs and projects.

Community Engagement and Advocacy
  • Serve as the public face and spokesperson for Barn Sanctuary advocating for animal welfare and promoting the organizations mission.
  • Build and nurture partnerships with stakeholders community leaders and allied organizations.
  • Represent Barn Sanctuary at events conferences in traditional media and across a wide range of social media platforms and engagement models.

Governance and Compliance
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors providing regular updates on organizational performance and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws regulations and ethical standards.
  • Promote transparency and accountability in all aspects of organizational governance.
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Nonprofit Management Business Administration Animal Science or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5 years of executive or senior leadership experience in a nonprofit organization preferably in animal welfare or related fields.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic plans manage budgets and lead teams.
  • Proven fundraising and development experience with a successful track record of cultivating donors and securing major gifts.
  • Exceptional communication interpersonal and public relations skills.
  • Deep commitment to the mission and values of Barn Sanctuary.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors and understanding of governance best practices.
  • Strong organizational and problemsolving skills with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
