GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Develops students success in academics interpersonal skills and activities of daily living by implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and learning student progress/ activities and outcomes; addressing students specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students parents and administration regarding student progress expectations goals etc.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develops educational plans to meet the individual needs of students with specific academic deficits or to prevent learning deficits; E
- Collaborates with resource general education and support personnel regarding the development and implementation of student instructional plans; E
- Teaches special needs students in accordance with appropriate district curriculum and individual student needs and goals; E
- Though use of direct instruction or coteaching methodologies provides access to the standardsbased curriculum in individual small or large group settings; E
- Conducts evaluation of student progress and participates in revision of the students IEPs; E
- Plans and conducts parent conferences in an articulate and empathic manner; E
- Maintains necessary student records according to District Policy and statutes; E
- Demonstrates continuing professional growth;
- Provides direct instruction to students whose needs are identified in a written individualized education program; E
- Assesses students social needs (e.g. behavioral motor development communication) academic needs progress expectations goals etc. (e.g. developmental level vocational abilities) for the purpose of evaluating student and family requirements placement and the success of the program; E
- Advises parents and/or legal guardian of student progress for the purpose of supporting expectations developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment;
- Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment; E
- Demonstrates continuing professional growth;
- Performs such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned;

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possession of a Education Specialist Instruction Credential Early Childhood Special Education and/or an Extensive Support Needs (older Moderate to Severe credential not applicable). University Intern eligible candidates may also apply.
- Possession of a Bachelors Degree or higher;
- Must meet Federal teacher competency highly qualified teacher requirements under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Standards for the Teaching Profession;
- Have an understanding of the different modalities of learning;
- Possess a willingness to work in a collaborative setting within a school site;
- Have or be willing to acquire knowledge of State Education Code as well as that of the local school district and its policies;
- Have a working understanding of computer and technology applications effective interpersonal communication skills good judgment and sound decisionmaking;
- Commitment to confidentiality of sensitive materials;
- Understanding of teaching strategies;
- Flexibility and receptivity to change;
- Maintenance of cooperative and professional working relationships with peers students administration and all other school and district
PREEMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
- A current and valid Tuberculosis (TB) clearance;
- Fingerprint clearance for school personnel;
- Possession and maintenance of a valid and appropriate California Driver License; have an acceptable driving record; and be insurable by the Districts insurance carrier and maintain such insurability during the course of employment.
