As a reportereditor in the RadioCanada OttawaGatineau newsroom you will be responsible for covering regional news in the Outaouais Ottawa and surrounding areas.
Under the supervision of the assignment producer you will be expected to create content in various formats which may be published on our digital platforms on radio in the Tljournal OttawaGatineau and as vertical video.
You must have a strong understanding of the issues in Ottawa and Gatineau as well as key players in the regional news landscape in order to quickly inform our audience about stories that matter to them.
Our team works in a collaborative environment with rigor and creativity to meet and adapt to the needs of our audience. We are looking for a proactive informed resourceful and detailoriented person to create and enhance our journalistic content.
Your work will be governed by the CBC/RadioCanada Journalistic Standards and Practices. You must be wellversed in them and demonstrate responsibility with a constant focus on maintaining public trust.
Two 2 fulltime permanent positions are available. You may be required to work weekends early mornings or late evenings.
Profile sought:
University degree (or equivalent) in journalism communications or related fields
Three 3 years of directly related experience demonstrating strong field reporting skills and a solid understanding of the broadcasting industry and RadioCanadas various platforms
Relevant experience in preparing delivering reports and doing live hits
Strong interview writing and storytelling skills
Strong interest in emerging trends in news especially digital media
Ability to write news content effectively and quickly for digital platforms
Knowledge of RadioCanadas mandate and Journalistic Standards and Practices
Knowledge of the social political cultural and economic life of the Outaouais region and Eastern Ontario
Familiarity with regional provincial and national current affairs
Excellent command of spoken and written French and good proficiency in spoken and written English
Must hold a valid drivers license
Familiarity with production software (iNews Dalet Mediacentral Scoop) used at RadioCanada is an asset
Strong journalistic sense editorial judgment and decisionmaking ability
Proven ability to learn new technologies
Demonstrates resourcefulness and initiative
Strong interpersonal communication and teamwork skills
Ability to plan organize and coordinate daily tasks while meeting tight deadlines and working under pressure
Boldness creativity and curiosity in news gathering and factfinding
Willingness to travel and work flexible hours
