Job Description:
Microchips Communications Business Unit (CBU) is looking junior engineers to fill multiple roles as Semiconductor Design & Verification Engineers Entry/Junior Level in Montreal Quebec Canada. CBU is a premier supplier for 100Gbps Optical Networking & Connectivity Semiconductor Solutions for Telecom & Hyperscale Data Center Networks. Our devices enable highbandwidth cloudbased applications such as streaming services social media platforms and video conferencing. The CBU Product Development team is engaged through the entire semiconductor R&D cycle of concept design verification implementation stages. Once a prototype is available the team supports embedded software development and system validation lab testing through to massmarket production release. We are an experienced chip team working with the latest semiconductor development tools and methodologies in advanced process technologies to develop stateoftheart network devices. As a junior engineer you will innovate via digital design and the testing or circuits implementing features related to our semiconductor products. You will be guided by architects and lead engineer and will collaborate with other team members to deliver complex designs in a friendly and professional environment. Candidates of interest will have a background in hardware design software development or hardware verification. Job responsibilities may include:
Understand the requirements & functional description of the device to ensure compliance with specifications and error free functionality.
Develop a digital circuit with System Verilog to process a new protocol or to increase processing speed of an existing design.
Develop a component of a virtual testbench that will generate or monitor complex stimuli driven to the digital circuit using C System Verilog and UVM.
Develop and execute a verification plan using System Verilog and functional coverage. Develop low level functions for the embedded processor on a chip.
Collaborate with Software Validation to deliver devices that integrate into a wider system.
Participate in Product Validation during the prototype stage of development.

CBU est un principal fournisseur de solutions lectroniques des rseaux optiques de 100Gbs et plus pour nos clients en tlcommunication et en rseautique des centres de donnes. Nos produits permettent lutilisation dapplications sur linfonuage utilisant un grand dbit de donnes comme les plateformes de mdias sociaux de visioconfrence et de streaming vido. Lquipe de dveloppement est implique travers le cycle complet de recherche et dveloppement des semiconducteurs soit les phases darchitecture de conception de vrification et dimplmentation. Quand le prototype est disponible lquipe supporte le dveloppement de logiciel embarqu et les tests de validation systme dans nos laboratoires jusqu la mise en march du produit. Nous sommes une quipe exprimente et nous dveloppons des puces lectroniques en utilisant les plus rcents outils et procds de fabrication des semiconducteurs. En tant que membre junior vous allez innover travers des designs et des tests de circuits numriques qui rpondent aux fonctionnalits de nos produits semiconducteurs. Vous serez guid par des architectes et des ingnieurs seniors; vous collaborerez avec dautres membres de lquipe dans un environnement amical et professionnel pour accomplir des designs de plus en plus complexes. Le rle du candidat peut tre de :
Comprendre les requis et les descriptions fonctionnelles dun circuit intgr spcialis afin dassurer sa conformit aux spcifications et dun fonctionnement sans faute.
Dvelopper un circuit numrique laide de System Verilog pour implmenter un nouveau protocole ou amliorer la cadence dun design pour traiter les donnes un dbit plus lev.
Dvelopper une partie dun banc de test qui gnre et examine des squences complexes de stimuli vers les circuits numriques en utilisant C System Verilog et UVM.
Dvelopper et excuter des tests suivant un plan de vrification laide de System Verilog et de techniques de couverture fonctionnelle.
Dvelopper des fonctions pour un logiciel embarqu (C) dune puce dote dun processeur.
Collaborer avec lquipe logiciel et de validation pour fournir une solution systme. Participer la validation du produit lors de la phase du prototypage.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Graduate Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- Academic experience in digital design VLSI computer architecture embedded programming or objectoriented modeling are desired.
- Experience with Hardware Descriptive Languages (HDL) such as System Verilog Verilog or VHDL is required. Candidates are expected to know how HDL languages simulate and map to digital logic.
- Interest in abstract modeling of design functionality via software objectoriented programming.
- Knowledge of verification methodologies such as UVM is an asset.
- FPGA development exposure with Synopsys Cadence Mentor or Xilinx tool suites is an asset.
- Understand digital hardware architectures and logic (Statemachines RAMs Registers and bus architectures).
- Experience with control revision tool such as Subversion or Git is an asset.
- Ability to work in a Linux shell environment and Linux scripting (CSH/TCL/Perl/Python) is required.
- Must be selfdriven & proactive with a desire to understand learn more do more & make a difference.
- Excellent analytical and debugging skills with the ability to proactively solve issues is required.
- Verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Baccalaurat ou diplme de cycle suprieur en gnie lectrique ou informatique.
- Avoir suivi des cours relis la microlectronique les systmes logiques la programmation embarqus ou modlisation avec la programmation orient objet est dsire.
- Exprience avec un langage matriel tel que VHDL Verilog ou System Verilog. Le candidat doit comprendre comment le langage simule et se convertit en porte logique.
- Intrt dans la modlisation de design travers la programmation oriente objet.
- Connaissances et mthodologies de vrification tel que UVM est un atout.
- Exprience avec un outil de compilation ou de simulation par Xilinx Siemens Synopsys ou Cadence est un atout.
- Comprendre les architectures matrielles numriques et logiques (machines tats RAM registres bus darchitecture). Exprience avec un outil de rvision de contrle tel que Git est un atout.
- Travailler dans un environnement Linux et comptences en scripting tel que CSH TCL Perl ou Python.
- Dsir apprendre et sadapter aux nouvelles mthodologies et technologies.
- Excellentes capacits danalyse de dbogage et de rsolution de problmes de manire proactive.
- Habilet en communication verbale et crite en anglais
