Reporting to the Assistant Vice President of Media Technologies & Productions the Assistant Director of Production Facilities is responsible for overseeing the postproduction team and managing Digital Postproduction operations. This role ensures effective collaboration streamlined workflows and a productive environment aligned with departmental goals. The Assistant Director addresses technical and personnel challenges maintains high standards of quality and efficiency and ensures project deadlines are met. This is a handson position that supervises postproduction personnel and oversees the technical maintenance of postproduction environments with a focus on workflow optimization technical oversight and resource management.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

  • Provide leadership and guidance to Post Managers across Audio Film Photo and Emerging Media facilities.
  • Oversee daily operations staffing and maintenance of Digital Postproduction spaces acting as the primary liaison for students faculty and staff.
  • Support and troubleshoot postproduction software and hardware (e.g. Avid Media Composer Adobe Creative Suite DaVinci Resolve).
  • Coordinate endofsemester screenings by working with faculty to identify and collect student projects oversee the creation of Digital Cinema Packages (DCPs) for quality control and screenings and collaborate with faculty and the Bright Family Screening Room staff to schedule project QCs and final screenings.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure software and hardware are maintained updated and repaired as needed.
  • Collaborate closely with department heads faculty technical staff and other stakeholders to assess needs and identify necessary upgrades and acquisitions for postproduction facilities and equipment.
  • Conduct comprehensive audits of existing postproduction and Digital production workflow and facility utilization to identify and address bottlenecks redundancies and areas for improvement.
  • Implement best practices lean management techniques and technology solutions to streamline operations reduce waste enhance productivity and improve project management across facilities.
  • Facilitate crossdepartmental collaboration to optimize resource sharing and technological integration sharing resources knowledge and technology to foster a more integrated and efficient use of postproduction facilities.
  • Develop and maintain a centralized database for scheduling equipment and facilities ensuring optimal utilization reducing conflicts and minimizing downtime.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of training materials and services to meet constituent needs develop skills and resolve issues ensuring all users are proficient with new equipment or facility upgrades.
  • Maintain uptodate knowledge of emerging technologies for both self and team and identify professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills and capabilities.
  • Ensure the proper and safe use of all facilities and equipment with adequate supervision to maintain a secure working environment for all users.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback and innovative ideas from staff and users aiming to enhance service quality and operational efficiencies continually.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned including but not limited to overseeing project management for facility upgrades and equipment acquisitions ensuring minimal operational disruption.

QUALIFICATIONS Qualifications are deemed required or preferred and represent what is needed to perform the job effectively.

  • A bachelors degree in film production media production or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience as a producer director editor executive producer or manager of significant projects through postproduction is required including experience in managing staff.
  • Relevant student employment or academic experience in postproduction will be considered.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES This may be representative but not allinclusive of the knowledge skills and abilities commonly associated with the job.

  • Deep understanding of motion picture television and video production workflows.
  • Proficiency in AVID Media Composer Pro Tools Adobe Creative Suite DaVinci Resolve and platforms like Workday Zendesk and Webcheckout
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high standards for quality.
  • Strong leadership management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and problemsolving abilities.
  • Ability to remain current with industry trends and technology and to advise on strategic enhancements.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and work effectively with students.
  • Thrive in a fastpaced highdemand academic environment.
  • Selfmotivated and proactive.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • This position works in a studio and an office environment.
  • Exposed to moderate noise levels
