Position: Operating Room Nurse Residency Program
Experience Level: Open to New Grads & Experienced Nurses
St. Elizabeths Medical Center is excited to announce the Operating Room (OR) Nurse Residency Program 2025.
St. Elizabeths Medical Center has implemented a PeriOperative 101 training program that incorporates the Nurse of the Future Core Competencies. Nurses of will be hired into the organization in small cohorts.
The Operating Room Nurse Residency Cohort will attend nursing orientation matriculate though the operating room residency curriculum and remain together until they sit for a final exam for certification through the Association of PeriOperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
This program will provide nurses specialized hybrid learning opportunities that include online modules classroom didactic handson skills and simulation lab sessions with clinical preceptorship in the operating room.
Selected candidates must make a twoyear commitment to the unit that invests in training them.

Upon completion of the program nurses will be assigned to the St. Elizabeths Main Operating Room with shift rotations based on current unit staffing needs. This may include oncall shifts and holiday commitments.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with an associates degree or Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN); BSN preferred. Candidates who do not have a BSN must enroll in a Baccalaureate program one year from date of hire and must complete their BSN by the end of the semester in which the fouryear anniversary of employment at BMC occurs.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
Active Registered Nurse License in Massachusetts
Active (BLS) basic life support certification before start date
Additional certifications may be required for certain practice areas.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Basic computer proficiency is inclusive of the ability to access enter and interpret computerized data/information.
Effective interpersonal skills to facilitate communication with various members of the health care team patients and families.
Organizational skills to set priorities and efficiently complete assigned work.
Multilingual skills (beyond that of English) in languages appropriate to the patient populations served by the Medical Center preferred
Relevant clinical experience and/or specialty certification is preferred for certain practice areas.
Analytical ability to solve clinical nursing issues and conduct quality improvement projects.
