What youll do

Within the Manufacturing Engineering scope Product Engineering evaluates reports and achieves manufacturability KPIs by consulting with R&D on optimal product design.

Success is achieved by intimate knowledge of product design production process and project management. This role is responsible for component level parts that will be mounted in General Assembly. You will report to the Manager Body System Assembly at Production Planning.

  • Your goal is to improve the product design the vehicles according to the needs of manufacturing and to enable stable and ergonomic processes that are feasible for highvolume manufacturing
  • Identify decide and implement technical requirements from manufacturing to influence product design
  • Collaborate with manufacturing quality production control and engineering to provide product design and product concepts according to the needs of General Assembly.
  • Use CADDataAnalysis Simulations and virtual tests to identify risks for highvolume manufacturing
  • Identify and implement ideas to improve exterior product design to ensure stable processes and minimal rework in series production
  • Ensure that all exterior products are designed to meet assembly requirements and product design is feasible for highvolume manufacturing
  • Take responsibility for all communication between production planning assembly and the engineering department as a single point of contact for all exterior vehicle design related topics
  • Use cross departmental collaboration to meet and exceed company goals and objectives in the field of design for manufacturing.
  • Coordinate activities within the team that outline and achieve project goals
  • Provide instruction and guidance about required techniques and regulations

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at inperson meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • 3 years professional experience with expertise in manufacturing engineering or production planning (General Assembly) including ability to achieve stable production processes.
  • Deep knowledge of vehicle engineering processes
  • Bachelors / masters degree in mechanical electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • Skillful at organizational navigation and crossfunctional collaboration at all levels; ability to develop effective partnerships and relationships.
  • Creative and strategic problem solver who exercises sound judgment.

Pay Transparency

This is a fulltime exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidates skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range $110000$130000

Internal leveling code: IC9
