Job Description

We have been retained by one of the top construction companies in the BC North to find their next Controller. This is a dynamic and challenging opportunity to work with an amazing team in a rapidly growing company.

Note: This is an InOffice role and will require the successful candidate to be based in Dawson Creek BC.

YOUR ROLE

In addition to managing the daytoday aspects of accounting for the organization you will be working with multiple revenue streams and have a principal focus on project costing and reporting. This is a leadership role for a small accounting team 3 reports) and there is the ability to grow the department as the needs develop.

This is a great opportunity for someone who comes with a good base of constructionindustry experience and is able to provide guidance and structure to a rapidly growing company.

Reporting to the CEO your specific accountabilities will include:

  • Located in: Dawson Creek
  • Managing a staff of 3 accounting and clerical personnel
  • Involved in day to day accounting functions including Accounts Payable Accounts Receivable Payroll Costing banking and financial reporting
  • Participating in Management meetings on an ongoing basis
  • Preparing budgets cash flow forecasts and financial reports as required
  • Regular weekly / monthly / quarterly updates to the managers and CEO
  • Coordinating yearend audits with external auditors and preparing all necessary working schedules & reconciliations



YOUR TRACK RECORD AND SKILLS:


You are someone who:


  • Is a designated CPA with a diverse background in both forprofit and notforprofit entities;
  • Brings a minimum of ten years progressive Canadian accounting experience the last five of which have been in a leadership role
  • Has a long track record of meeting or exceeding performance expectations and deadlines
  • Consistently demonstrates out of the box thinking and initiates practical yet creative problemsolving
  • Has handson experience with construction and resource based industry sectors
  • Who understands firsthand the importance of accurately delivering on a full slate of complex internal and external financial reporting expectations
  • Able to produce detailed working schedules and account reconciliations
  • Works well with sophisticated software environment with direct experience working with Sage100 and/or similar scope of accounting programs
  • Leads builds relationships and mentors collaborative teamdriven work environments
