Job Purpose:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to lead our accounting and financial operations. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely closing of the books financial reporting and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on financial leader with strong technical accounting skills a data-driven mindset and a bias for action. You thrive in fast-paced environments bring a sense of urgency and are passionate about building high-performing teams and scalable processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the monthly financial close activities by running a disciplined close process and coordinating activities and analysis with teams across the finance organization.
- Own the full-cycle accounting processes including journal entries reconciliations month-end closing and reporting audit and tax preparation and more.
- Direct and oversee all aspects of the Finance & Accounting functions of the organization.
- Lead and manage the accounting team.
- Coordinate the accounting implementation of acquisitions including purchase accounting
- Provide interpretation and application of accounting procedures principles and pronouncements under GAAP
- Coordinate the planning and execution of annual audits with external auditors.
- Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal state and local regulatory laws and rules.
- Oversee and ensure sales tax compliance and other state tax compliance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify business opportunities and challenges.
- Participate in the development of strategies to improve accounting operations effectiveness including the development and execution of organizational process and system changes.
- Develop staff goals and key performance indicators to measure performance and ensure the department is performing at a high level.

Required Skills & Abilities:
- Proven leadership in managing accounting teams
- Experience in a mid-sized private equity-backed company ($100 million in annual revenue).
- Strong knowledge of construction accounting WIP schedules and job costing principles.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels and remote teams.
- High integrity dependability and a strong sense of urgency and results orientation.
- Proficiency in Vista Viewpoint or equivalent construction accounting software.
- Demonstrated experience leading or supporting ERP conversions.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel Outlook Word PowerPoint).
- Familiarity with Power BI Power Automate and other Microsoft Power Platform tools.
- Experience in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) and partnering with senior leadership.
- Ability to identify and drive process improvements across financial operations.
Education License and Experience:
- BS in Accounting or Finance MBA highly desirable
- Active CPA license required
- 10 years in progressively responsible financial leadership roles preferably in the construction industry.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires prolonged sitting standing some bending stooping and stretching. Requires manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination for data input.
