In order to participate in theClassroom Monitor Program (PA Act 91 you must have completed 60 semester hours or the equivalent of courses at a regionally accredited college or university located in Pennsylvania or have at least three 3 years experience as a paraprofessional in a school entity and is currently employed as a paraprofessional in a school entity.
You must be at least 25 years of age; and have completed a training on classroom management which will be provided to you.
Position Summary
Aclassroom monitormay be employed to provide coverage and deliver preplanned assignments in classrooms; importantly a classroom monitor may not plan lessons or create or grade student work.
Job Duties
Day to day job duties of aclassroom monitor are determined by the classroom teacher or his/her designee as they may vary depending upon the changing needs of the classroom(s) student(s) and/or school monitors of any capacity are subject to daily reassignment depending on the needs of the day. Theclassroom monitormust comply with the duties outlined by the classroom teacher principal or designee.

Essential Function
Substitute teaching is an essential part of the educational process. Each school year all districts will look to build a workforce of substitute teachers to help aide their teachers and allow them to be replaced in times of need for the district. Each school district will rely on a qualified and enthusiastic group of subs that can stepup and continue the educational process in the absence of a teacher. Its essential that the substitute teacher continues the primary teachers lesson plan so that the curriculum plan at hand continues to be carried out.
Essential duties and responsibilities of this position may vary in nature due to changes in schedule student or district need and include but are not limited to:
Reports to the office upon arrival for checkin and reviews the plans and schedules for the day.
Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about school personnel.
Assumes the responsibility for overseeing student behavior in the classroom during lunch activity periods and outofclass settings.
Executes instructional activities with individual students or small groups of students following the absent teachers lesson plans.
Provides instruction to special needs children who are part of the classroom dynamic.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
Proficiency in maintaining efficient classroom management skills.
Conduct yourself in a polite and professional manner with other staff members and building administrators.
Other duties may be required that are not enumerated here that are part of the classroom teachers curriculum or duties.
