Job Summary:The job of In-School Suspension Monitor is done for the purpose/s of maintaining a safe and orderly campus and environment; providing adequate supervision for students and providing needed academic assistance as appropriate.
Essential Job Functions:
- Develops positive relationships with the student body for the purpose of facilitating orderly student behavior.
- Establishes positive working relationships with the staff for the purpose of supporting staff educational goals.
- Supervises ISS room for the purpose of appropriately controlling student movement behavior and study efforts.
- Communicates observations and concerns to building administration and classroom teachers for the purpose of supporting staff educational goals.
- Maintains a daily awareness of the students who are on a behavior related contract or the purpose of promoting and providing an environment which is conducive to learning.
- Attends authorized training sessions for the purpose of being current in rules and laws which may impact duties.
Other Job Functions:
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
Qualifications:
- Experience Required:Prior job-related experience with increasing levels ofresponsibilities preferably in school and/or institutional setting.
- Skills Knowledge and/or Abilities Required:
- Skills to appropriately intervene in emergency or potentially critical situationsdiffuse potentially volatile situations use English in both written and verbal formcommunicate effectively with persons of varied educational and cultural backgrounds document accurately.
- Knowledgeof Student Conduct Code for students.
- Abilitiesto stand or walk for prolonged periods understand and carry out oral andwritten instructions maintain firm but courteous attitude toward individuals maintain written records adjust to flexible assignments often with short notice. Significantphysical abilities include talking/hearing conversations near/far visual acuity/depthperception/visual accommodation/field of vision.
Education Required:High School diploma or equivalent.
Licenses Certifications Bonding and/or Testing Required:Oregon Fingerprint and Criminal Check clearance.
Work Schedule:Monday through Fridayper ISS Monitor Calendar 6.25 hours/day
