The Department of Nursing offers an undergraduate program within the nursing discipline and is a fully accredited member of the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and approved by the Minnesota Board of Nursing. The fouryear Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Nursing (BS) also termed traditional prelicensure program is a 68credit major preparing caring professional clinicians for practice in contemporary health care settings. Additionally SCSU offers an RN to BS completion program which is fully online and is completed in 12 months. For additional department information: and clinical experiences prepare graduates to practice in a culturally diverse rapidly changing global society. SCSUs nursing programs emphasize critical thinking clinical reasoning and clinical judgement to appropriately address the needs of individuals families communities and populations throughout all stages of life.
The Department of Nursing Science offers a stateofthe art Simulation Lab which has been named the Jim and Ann Marie Maciej Nursing Education Suite in recognition of their generous financial support.
Faculty members are expected to:
Demonstrate ability to teach didactic and clinical nursing courses at the undergraduate level.
Provide academic advising to undergraduate nursing students.
Provide mentoring and leadership to adjunct clinical faculty.
Participate in strategic planning programmatic development and curriculum review.
Participate in accreditation governance and regulatory review processes of the Department.
Collaborate effectively with members of Department and community health agencies.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree in nursing from an accredited University/Institution
Current or eligible for RN licensure in the state of Minnesota
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with students faculty and community including community agencies
Evidence of experience in teaching in specialty area specifically maternal and child health nursing
Evidence of the ability to work with persons from culturally diverse backgrounds
Preferred Qualification
Doctoral degree in Nursing (PhD DNP EdD)
Experience as a clinical instructor in specialty area (child and health nursing)
Experience with applicable nursing technology online informatics and simulation
Demonstrated ability to team teach
Demonstrated continued education and professional development
