ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF INTERACTION DESIGN AND GAME STUDIES
DEPARTMENT OF ART AND DESIGN

INTRODUCTION/POSITION:
QUALIFICATIONS:
A terminal degree (MFA PhD) in a related field or equivalent professional experiencein addition to a record of successful teaching at the college/university level.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
We seek an innovative educator with expertise in the creation of virtual/ interactive environments and objects and a deep understanding of how games as a form of interaction design function as cultural and educational tools. In this position the faculty member will serve as a pedagogical link between the Department of Art and Design and the Game Studies and eSports program focusing on teaching gamebased creative practices that explore storytelling immersion and innovation. Candidates with demonstrated proficiency in 3D modeling/animation augmented reality and user interface software and those who can explore the potential of emerging technologies are encouraged to apply.
CONTINUING TRACK (CT): The continuing track is UDs fulltime continuing faculty line similar to the tenure track. CT faculty enjoy contracts that increase in length over time and like tenuretrack faculty receive full and generous benefits including familyfriendly benefits as part of their compensation package. CT faculty with terminal degrees hold professorial rank and have a path to promotion up to full professor; CT faculty without terminal degrees are at the instructor rank and have a parallel path to promotion. All CT faculty earn sabbaticals have opportunities to pursue research participate in shared governance and hold academic leadership positions.
