Role Description

The Corporate Development Analyst will be an integral member of a dedicated team of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) professionals at Eastman Chemical a leading global specialty materials company. Key responsibilities include shaping the corporate portfolio strategy developing actionable M&A pipeline and executing transactions from idea generation phase through signing closing and integration.


The Corporate Development Analyst will play a critical role in performing strategic and financial analysis of merger acquisition divestiture and joint venture opportunities for Eastman and developing insights perspectives and recommendations necessary to inform strategic decisionmaking by senior management and the Board of Directors.


This individual will also be a core member of deal teams executing transactions in Eastmans robust and active M&A pipeline supporting all aspects of deal including project management due diligence valuation structuring and negotiating agreements as well as partnering crossfunctionally with business management and functional departments to ensure successful outcomes.


This is a highly visible role within Eastman with significant exposure to senior management and business leadership as well as a broad spectrum of functional areas. Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as core member of global crossfunctional deal teams executing M&A transactions
  • Conduct comprehensive M&A modeling valuation and financial analysis to inform strategic choices
  • Develop insights analyses and recommendations captured in highquality presentations to support decisionmaking by senior management business leadership and the Board of Directors
  • Understand monitor track M&A and capital markets activity relevant to Eastman
  • Working collaboratively across the global Eastman organization to drive successful results

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate would possess most of the following capabilities and qualities but above all must have a positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow.

  • Ability to construct robust M&A models and perform complex valuation and financial analyses
    • Examples include merger models with threestatement pro forma financials shareholder value creation analysis sumofthe parts DCF LBO IRR ROIC analyses and comparable trading/transactions analysis
    • Experience/acumen with finance and accounting scenarios is highly desirable
  • Prepares worldclass presentation materials for senior management and external stakeholders working both independently and collaboratively within a team
    • Develop and refine presentations with high degree of accuracy attention to detail and rigor
    • Understand content and creatively improve both substance and form of work product
    • Create efficiency by leverage strong technical skills within PowerPoint and Excel
  • Knowledge and understanding of M&A transactions strategy deal process
    • Strategic rationale and logic underlying portfolio choices and investment decisions
    • Deal process structure and mechanics
    • Understand legal and regulatory concepts governing M&A transactions
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and successful work habits
    • Highattention to detail resourceful wellorganized and good time management
    • Positive attitude welcomes feedback seeks to understand adapts rapidly to dynamic environment while helping team stay balanced and focused
    • Earn trust and confidence of internal and external stakeholders including Eastman business and functional leaders M&A deal counterparties and external advisors

Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Financial accounting and corporate finance coursework is required either through formal education or investment bank training program:
  • 1 to 3 years of experience in investment banking private equity corporate development or related fields
