Job Title: Deputy Director

FLSA Classification: Exempt

FTE: 1.0

Compensation:

Depending on experience. Starting salary information is available from the Human Resources Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position supervises Program Directors who oversee direct services to participants

Reports to: Executive Director


Primary Objectives:

The Deputy Director is a member of Sponsors Senior Leadership team and works in close collaboration with the Executive Director. This position provides leadership and oversight to direct services programs including the Transitions Program Mentorship Program and the Reentry Resource Center; assists with the management of daily operations; and works with the Executive Director and Senior Leadership Team to position the organization for continued strategic growth and innovative development.


Primary Functions:


Supervision: Supervises the following positions and provides leadership and oversight to the associated programs: Transitions Program Director (Roosevelt Crossing and Downtown Campuses) Mentorship Program Director Reentry Resource Center Director.

  • Meets regularly with each direct report to provide guidance support coaching and performance feedback
  • Engages in timely and effective performance management steps when necessary
  • Completes annual performance evaluations
  • Finds creative ways to recognize and appreciate strong performance

Program Leadership and Coordination

  • Provides leadership to Direct Services Team to ensure coordination consistency between programs and excellent services to Sponsors Participants
  • Leads efforts to innovate and create new services that are aligned with organizational capacity and mission
  • Coordinates and ensures timely and appropriate response related to subpoenas memoranda of understanding and other formal process requests
  • Works with the Executive Director and Finance Director on the development and of partner contractsand budgets

Public Speaking

  • Presents in a variety of public forums including community gatherings conferences professional associations etc.
  • Provides verbal testimony to legislative and other bodies
  • Engages with Sponsors donors and community supporters in a variety of settings
  • Other public speaking as assigned by the Executive Director

Partnership Development

  • Works closely with community partners such as Lane County Parole & Probation Lane County Sherriffs Office Emergence members of the Lane County Public Safety Coordinating Council and others to establish and maintain high functioning partnerships that result in effective services to participants
  • Serves as a key contact person for community partners
  • Facilitates opportunities for collaboration on events presentations and other community engagement
  • Represents the organization on public committees as assigned by the Executive Director

Organizational Leadership

  • Contributes to organizational strategy as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
  • Serves as organizational leader in the Executive Directors absence
  • Provides leadership response in emergency situations
  • Delivers staff training when appropriate
  • Consults with Executive Director regarding programmatic changes and priorities
Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years leadership and supervision experience
  • Organizational leadership experience
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with people from different racial cultural and class backgrounds and across generations
  • Understanding of and passion for reentry work
  • Strong communication skills including public speaking writing and interpersonal communication
  • Ability to model Sponsors core values of dignity community and empowerment
  • Strong networking and collaboration skills to cultivate mutually beneficial relationships with community partners
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to function well in a highpaced and intense environment
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Firsthand knowledge and experience related to reentry and the criminal legal system
  • Knowledge and understanding through work or lived experience of the unique challenges and opportunities associated with reentry after incarceration
  • Familiarity with trauma informed services
  • Experience with policy development and implementation
  • Experience related to grant writing and contract administration
  • Experience with program design implementation evaluation and datadriven decision making
  • Excellent project management skills with the proven ability to envision and implement detailed plans to realize longrange goals
  • Familiarity with the developmental process associated with growing nonprofit organizations
  • Ability to work at a computer for prolonged periods of time


Work Environment:

This position typically works in an office environment and uses a computer telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. May encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day


Physical Demands:

  • Walking up and down stairs
  • Sitting at a desk for prolonged periods of time.
  • Noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office environment.


Postconviction Supervision Status

Successful candidates for this position must not be on parole or probation and cannot be in a diversion program (e.g. SB416 Treatment Court DUII Diversion Restorative Justice).


Employment is contingent on a background clearance by the Oregon Youth Authority through their external review and approval process.
