Job Description

TheDirector of FirstGeneration Student Programsprovides strategic leadership in developing and implementing initiatives that support the success of firstgeneration college students. This role focuses on student engagement retention and academic achievement by fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment. The Director collaborates with university leadership faculty staff and external partners to create programs secure resources and advocate for firstgeneration students needs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives to increase firstgeneration student retention graduation rates and overall engagement.
  • Serve as a campus advocate for firstgeneration students addressing barriers to their success.
  • Design mentorship programs peer support initiatives and leadership development opportunities.
  • Provide workshops seminars and resources on financial literacy career readiness and academic success strategies.
  • Develop partnerships with alumni community organizations and corporate sponsors to expand resources and opportunities for firstgeneration students.
  • Assess program effectiveness through data collection surveys and student feedback.
  • Generate reports on firstgeneration student outcomes retention trends and program impact.
  • Use data insights to refine strategies and secure funding through grants and sponsorships.
  • Represent the university at national conferences workshops and networking events related to firstgeneration student success.

Education

  • Masters degree in Higher Education Administration Student Affairs Social Work or a related field (Doctorate preferred).
  • Minimum 57 years of experience in student affairs academic support or diversity and inclusion with a focus on firstgeneration student success.
  • Must be able to lift 10 pounds.
