The Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions Recruitment provides leadership and support in the development and implementation of the undergraduate recruitment plan oversees key undergraduate recruitment strategies ensures timely undergraduate admissions reporting and assists the Director of Undergraduate Admissions in the administration of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions to meet institutional enrollment goals. Also the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Admissions Recruitment is responsible for developing supervising and training Admissions Counselors on the Commerce campus.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contributes to the Universitys enrollment objectives by partnering with the Director of Undergraduate Admissions to develop and implement a comprehensive and effective approach to the undergraduate admissions cycle which includes but is not limited to the following components: developing a student recruitment plan including managing recruitment outreach (college fairs high school and community college visits) building a pipeline of high school counselor partners and community college partners and evaluating and assessing admissions application trends.
- Manages and leads a team of Admissions Counselors on the Commerce campus responsible for all territory management aspects of undergraduate recruitment.
- Coordinates training and professional development opportunities for staff to ensure adherence to established divisional and institutional policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with the Universitys undergraduate admission policy by overseeing the review and authentication of academic credentials of applicants counseling students and their families regarding admission criteria and alternatives and recommending exceptions to senior administrators when appropriate.
- Oversees key undergraduate recruitment projects and collaborates with campus partners (e.g. Academic Affairs New Student and Family Programs Scholarships and Financial Aid) in the dissemination of information to targeted new student populations.
- Serves as cochair of the Admissions Review Committee for the supplemental application process while maintaining open lines of communication with school counselors and the public on issues related to policies and procedures for admission to the university.
- Actively participates in the planning and of undergraduate recruitment events such as preview days admitted student events campus tours virtual events and counselor workshops.
- Contributes to the overall success of the Division of Enrollment Management by performing all other duties as assigned by the Director of Undergraduate Admissions.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Education: A Bachelors degree.
- Experience / Knowledge / Skills: Five 5 years of related experience in a college or university setting in an undergraduate admissions role. A proven track record for making datadriven recruitment decisions that support the achievement of institutional enrollment goals is required. Knowledge of undergraduate and international admissions financial aid scholarships and academic and student services is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills and sensitivity to issues related to the retention and recruitment of a varied student body are required. Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to work independently are required. A working knowledge of database systems such as Ellucians Banner PeopleSoft or some other type of database product utilized by institutions of higher learning is required. Knowledge of spreadsheets database applications and the use of a CRM are required. Familiarity with office applications software preferably Microsoft Office is required. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop positive relationships with prospective students and their families are required.
- Ability to: Ability to travel to high school and community college day and night programs and other visits throughout Texas is required. Ability to work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends and occasional overnight travel and evening and weekend work are required.
- Licensing/Professional Certifications: Valid drivers license.

- Other Requirements: Other Requirements: Demonstrated ability in team building leadership supervision management selection performance evaluation public speaking conflict resolution and problemsolving within the context of a college or university admissions office is required. A demonstrated understanding of the importance of building and maintaining open communication with college partners school counselors and community college stakeholders is required. A working knowledge of marketing principles best practices and techniques relevant to student recruitment is required.
PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE:
A Masters degree in Higher Education Student Affairs or relevant field from a nationally or regionally accredited institution of higher education is preferred. Knowledge of and familiarity with current trends and best practices in customer service enrollment management student support services and retention is preferred.
