Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Claims Analyst is responsible for but not limited to analysing and processing claims under the applicable reinsurance contracts participate in claims audits providing analysis to underwriters and reserving actuaries and participate in collaborative projects in support of other areas of the company including finance actuarial operations and technology. This role will assist with the preparation of management reporting on respective claims activities. In addition the Claims Analyst supports the Underwriters on any claims related interactions with cedents and brokers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Actively handle claims arising from a variety of classes of business including Casualty Specialty and Property.

  • Investigate and handle all claims in accordance with company standards and procedures.

  • Build and maintain relationships with key brokers and internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure claims systems are kept up to date in a timely manner.

  • Promote compliance with best practice for all aspects of claims management.

  • Assist with developing (re)insurance knowledge within team.

  • Assist Underwriters in renewal meetings as required.

  • Provide feedback to Underwriters from a Claims perspective.

  • Participate in client visits and audits as required.

  • Represent the company at market meetings and on market committees and attend company sponsored training events.

  • Ensures all handled claims are properly processed and reserved. Ensures alignment and compliance with Global reserving practices and strategy.

  • Support claims team members in participation of claims audits.

EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:

  • A bachelors or university degree preferred or comparable experience.

  • A professional designation preferable ACII qualification or similar work experience

  • At least 2 to 5 years relevant prior experience in the (re)insurance/ industry

  • Prioritises responsibilities makes effective use of time and remains flexible to changing work needs/demands

  • Performs with minimal supervision.

  • Applies strong technical skills to achieve results.

  • Looks for opportunities to explore and gain new technical skills.

  • Knows and meets industry standards.

  • Consistently meets expectations excels when it matters most and responds quickly and effectively to resolve issues.

  • Works toward team goals and end result and contributes in ways that benefit the entire team.

  • Regularly shares information and engages in dialogue with manager and peers.

  • Knowledge of ECF/IMR and core business systems Outlook Word Excel.

  • Experience with public companies and SOX 404 is advantageous

  • Familiarity with US GAAP and other relevant GAAP as applicable

  • Strong mathematical/analytical skills.

Additional requirements:

Candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and experience of claims handling processes and practices in addition to having a detailed understanding of the legal landscape relevant to their jurisdiction.

In addition candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and understanding both of technical claims matters and legal aspects for those jurisdictions where it anticipated claims will arise (US/Continental Europe/UK/Asia Pacific dependent upon role location).
