High school graduate or equivalent with minimum two years medical office experience; Associates Degree preferred. Ability to type 60 words per minute.Proficiency in word processing data entry and PC based applications required.Knowledge of medical terminology required.Proficiency in communication verbally and in writing.Demonstrated evidence of: effective communication skillsability to problem solveability to get along with others ability to confront issues appropriatelyability to handle confidential and potentially sensitive information.
Provides support to the Integrative Support Services in the Pain Clinic by performing secretarial receptionist and clerical duties. Types does word processing and data entry in multiple computer systems. Answers multiple telephone lines; takes calls screens and relays messages and/or provides information to caller. Files and retrieves information as needed. Maintains various databases of patient information. Prepares departmental charts. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies. Processes requests for information/medical records according to guidelines. Registers new patients and updates existing patient information with strict attention to detail and maintains patient privacy. Schedules appointments within the clinic as well as through other hospital departments.
