Job Summary

The Manager Leave Administration will focus on reviewing maintaining and administering all types of leave requests such as those arising under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) shortterm or longterm disability plans the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and state and local leave laws.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead mentor and develop a highperforming team of professionals ensuring alignment with the departments objectives and the companys overall goals.
  • Work closely with the broader HR team and collaborate cross functionally with Compliance Legal and vendors.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations enhance procedures and reduce manual effort and errors.
  • Effectively communicate with employees regarding their needs for leave and/or modified work schedules. Ensures that employees are aware of their responsibilities and of any documentation and notice required to qualify for and to take leave.
  • Advises leaders and employees on the interaction of leave laws with paid time off workers compensation and shortterm and longterm disability benefits.
  • FMLA leave administration process from the employees initial notice of the need for leave to the return to work. This includes gathering and completing all required paperwork determining leave eligibility designating leave as FMLAqualifying requesting medical certification as needed and accounting for intermittent and reduced schedule leave use.
  • Maintains reasonable communication with employees on leave to facilitate smooth and timely return to work; relays communication between employees and their leaders during leave within reason.
  • Oversees the returntowork process for employees returning from extended FMLA workers compensation or other leave(s).
  • Facilitates other leave requests which may include accommodation requests under the ADA.
  • Ensure that the workers compensation cases are managed in accordance with applicable OSHA and workers compensation laws
  • Administers other company timeoff programs as assigned in accordance with internal policy and applicable laws.
  • Participate in the process of drafting and/or revising the company leave policies to ensure compliance with federal state and local laws and regulations.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of leave and accommodation requests in accordance with specified legal requirements and documentation of best practices.
  • Responsible for and/or assist in pandemic/Public Health Emergency compliance and best practices
  • Maintains knowledge of all applicable leave and accommodation laws including the FMLA ADA and state and local laws.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience in benefit administration and related federal and state laws regulations including but not limited to FMLA ADA Workers Compensation and ERISA.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present facts and recommendations effectively to all levels of the company.
  • Manage and prioritize work streams with competing demands that evolve quickly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Education/Experience:

  • Minimum of five years of leave of absence administration experience required.
  • Minimum of two years of leadership experience required.
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or related field or preferred.
  • SHRMCP or SHRMSCP preferred.
  • Completion of specialized certification or training on FMLA/leave administration a plus.
  • Multistate experience preferred
  • Workday experience is a plus.
