Job Description
Position Purpose:
Assists the Aquatics Manager with providing direct leadership to all pool activities. This includes supervision of swim lessons facilities and staff. This position is responsible for enforcing Family Wellness rules policies and safety procedures for members guests and employees.
Job Specific Competencies:
- Provides direct daily supervision of aquatics and staff to assure a high standard of safety and cleanliness and department objectives are being met.
- Monitors swimming lesson activities communicates with parents and supervises all staff.
- Monitors instructor performance and provides corrective feedback to staff when necessary.
- Provides coverage for all aquatics activities to ensure all shifts are covered.
- Assists the Aquatics Manager with staff recruitment reviews certifications staff development and lifeguard skill checks.
- Lifeguards when necessary mostly during the daytime/early afternoon shifts
- Serves as a backup for instructing swimming lessons.
- Understands and maintains knowledge and understanding of aquatic department and Family Wellness policies and procedures.
- Performs officerelated duties in preparation for swimming lessons and other aquatic programming.
- Ensure that lifeguards are completing their tasks.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Experience & Skills (Minimum Requirement):
Two years combined experience as a lifeguard swim instructor or working with kids required.
Competitive swim background preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirement(s):
American Red Cross certification in Lifeguarding CPR/AED and First Aid required upon hire.
Family Wellness swimming lesson instructor training will be provided upon hire including classroom and inwater instruction and shadow teaching with experienced instructors.
American Red Cross Instructor certification in Lifeguarding and First Aid/CPR/AED preferred.
