Job Title: Academic Success Coach Middle School
Reports To: Middle School Principal
FLSA Status: NonExempt
Work Year: 10 Month (Parttime: 19 hours a week)
Purpose: The Middle School Academic Interventionist is responsible for providing targeted instructional support to students who are struggling academically. This role involves working closely with teachers parents and other educational professionals to develop and implement intervention plans that help students achieve academic success.
Essential Functions: - Identify Students: Work with teachers and school staff to identify students who need additional academic support.
- Develop Intervention Plans: Create individualized or small group intervention plans based on students specific needs and neuropsychological evaluation.
- Provide Instruction: Deliver targeted instruction using researchbased strategies to help students improve their academic performance.
- Monitor Progress: Regularly assess and track students progress adjusting intervention plans as necessary.
- Collaborate: Work collaboratively with teachers parents and other educational professionals to support student learning.
- Maintain Records: Keep accurate records of student progress and provide regular updates to stakeholders. Our Academic Interventionist is required to share their instructional plans on the MyND platform. This practice ensures that teachers can easily identify students with a Learner Profile facilitating tailored instructional strategies and support.
- Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in academic intervention.
- After School Study Hall Policy: Any student who has received three or more grades below 70 is required to attend the After School Study Hall. This policy is designed to provide additional academic support and ensure that all students have the opportunity to improve their performance and achieve academic success.
- Academic Support for Students with Extended Absences: will provide targeted support to students who have been absent for more than three consecutive days. This support aims to help students reintegrate into their academic routine and address any learning gaps resulting from their absence.
- Responsible for proctoring tests for students with testing accommodations and intervening when students without accommodations are performing below their potential.
- Daily check outs with kids who need additional organizational support to ensure they have a plan and required homework materials are going home.
- Collaborates with NHS moderators at NDP high school to provide tutoring resources for our students.
- Attend all faculty and staff meetings.
- Coordinate withthe administration of a comprehensive standardized test during the second semester for all middle school students.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree in education special education or a related field.
- Dedication to Catholic values and education.
- Certification: Valid teaching certification. Additional certification in special education or a related area is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience working with middle school students in an educational setting. Experience with academic interventions is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication collaboration and problemsolving skills. Ability to use data to inform instruction and intervention strategies.
Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers phones photocopiers and filing cabinets.
