Rangers Supervisor
Classification: Full time Permanent
Salary: $32.00 to $37.00 per hour
Location: Williams Lake BC
Deadline: Until filled
The Tilhqotin National Government (TNG) is the official First Nations government serving the Tilhqotin Nation. TNG is located in Williams Lake British Columbia and serves six communities including Esdilagh Tsideldel Yuneitin Tletinqox Xeni Gwetin and Tlesqox.
The Rangers Supervisor is responsible for supervising a team of six Tilhqotin Rangers. The Rangers Supervisor will develop workplans/ field duties schedule and plan projects for the Tilhqotin Rangers.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of six rangers including daily operations and strategic activities
Record information and provides advice to XGFN & TNG Departments as required
Coordinate community outreach and education programs
Liaise with Provincial Federal Enforcement Agencies and other Organizations.
Schedule and plan projects for Tilhqotin Rangers within TNG nation boundary (hunting patrols access management wildlife management and fisheries.
Assist in carrying out HR policies including progressive discipline procedures
Assist in reporting Ranger accomplishments as required to the Chiefs Table
Assist in preparing grant proposals as well as preparing grant reports for funders.
Plan educational presentations for schools and communities. Work with Ranger Coordinator to organize the required material.
Review and mentor Ranger reporting.
Explore and coordinate Ranger training.
Undertake annual ranger assessments.
Review rangers reports regarding alleged contraventions and work with the rangers to ensure a complete report prior to submission to the ministry agencies. (DFO COS and NRO)
Undertake other work as instructed by the Compliance & Enforcement Manager and the Declared Title Area SubTable Manager.
Requirements:
Environment resource management diploma/ degree (professional designation i.e. RFT/RPF)
Certifications or experience in law enforcement conflict management environmental monitoring and interpretation of First Nations Provincial and Federal laws.
Investigation enforcement skills certificate would be an asset
A Valid drivers license
A clean Criminal record check
The certificates/ training listed are preferred not required. Individuals who are organized adaptable hardworking community orientated and have experience in the field will be considered. We are able to work with the right candidate to complete any certificates/ training necessary.

Bear Awareness (Wildlife Monitoring)
Marine Emergency Duties MED A3
Restricted Radio Operator (ROCM)
Level 3 Occupational First Aid
Pleasure craft certificate
ATV & UTV Training
Snowmobile Training
Firefighting S100 Course
RPAS Drone Pilot Certificates
Archaeological Inventory & CMT Training
Excellent knowledge of the Tilhqotin lands waters and values
Experience working with First Nations
Familiarity with mobile technology (i.e. GPS marine radios satellite phones etc.
Experience operating land and boating machinery (ATVs snow machines boats and trucks) in all types of weather.
Mechanical competency with chain saws and outboard motors
Knowledge of local marine freshwater and terrestrial species
Good knowledge of federal and provincial hunting and fishing laws as well as Tilhqotin traditional use policies or bylaws
Knowledge of restorative justice (preferred facilitator designation)
Knowledge for reading maps and using GIS
Competent computer skills (MS word excel outlook etc.
Experience using Survey123 to create reports and capture data.
Working Conditions:
Travel will be required
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and additional hardware
Overtime as required
Lifting or moving up to 50lbs may be required
