Description

SUMMARY:

The Director of Adult Education provides program leadership and direction; plans develops implements and evaluates all aspects of the areas of Adult Education High School Equivalency and Dropout Recovery. The Director of Adult Education reports to the Dean of Career Technical and Workforce Education.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position supervises and provides direction to staff engaged in Adult Education.
  • Implements university and department policies.
  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with college policy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Establishes and maintains effective teaching and learning practices programwide
  2. Initiates and facilitates change for continuous program improvement
  3. Understands interprets and assures compliance with applicable federal and state laws and regulations
  4. Initiates program planning develops goals and plans for meeting objectives
  5. Establishes procedures for collecting documenting and reporting data and ensures accountability
  6. Communicates regularly with staff and involves them in planning through a variety of formal and informal means
  7. Analyzes program data regularly in order to develop partnerships create strategic plans and make datainformed decisions
  8. Monitors and manages student learning and performance through data
  9. Coordinates activities of instructional staff to ensure effective and efficient program operation
  10. Manages fiscal resources and reports financial information
  11. Prepares and monitors all aspects of the budget
  12. Monitors contract compliance and cooperative agreements
  13. Builds partnerships to enhance the availability quality and delivery of services
  14. Recruits and retains students to meet local and state performance goals
  15. Ensures the use of technology resources by all instructors to engage in ongoing professional development and lifelong learning
  16. Assesses personal strengths and weaknesses of staff as a basis for developing a professional development plan
  17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Masters degree in Education Educational Administration Management or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

  • Three 3 years of fulltime experience working in adult education.Adult Education is aprogram of academic and education services below the postsecondary level that assistsadults who have not obtained high school diplomas in reading writing and speaking in English and performing mathematics or other activities necessary for the attainment of a secondary school diploma or recognized equivalent;transitioning to postsecondary education or training; andobtain employment

  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of program development grants management and fiscal program management.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience leading an adult education program in a college setting including program scheduling hiring and management of employees grants writing project management and budget management.
  • Previous experience with program management/administration education and/or workforce development.
  • Previous experience developing and executing/directing federal program grants and other grants.

ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS:

  • The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise.

  • While performing the duties of this Job the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger handle or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
