What to Expect
The Senior Counsel Privacy and Products will provide strategic practical and actionable legal guidance to the Companys various business lines including the core consumer finance business and emerging mobility business. This role will have a primary emphasis on providing guidance relating to the various federal and state privacy laws and requirements applicable to the Companys business lines and operations. In addition this role will play an integral part of supporting the Companys privacy compliance team and privacy compliance framework by providing general and privacy legal guidance and support in product and business development initiatives.
What You Will Do
1. Act as the Companys primary privacy subject matter expert. Provide legal support to business projects and operations to ensure compliance with applicable privacy financial services and general business laws.
2. Collaborate and guide the Companys privacy compliance and information security teams in the maintenance and updates to the Companys privacy policies and programs.
3. Support new and existing thirdparty contract negotiations to ensure appropriate privacy and information security issues are identified and documented.
4. Act as primary liaison with Companys affiliates in various data and privacy initiatives.
What You Will Bring
Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience in providing legal and strategic guidance on product and process development with a focus on privacy information security and consumer protection.
Inhouse legal experience strongly preferred.
Consumer financial services or automobile finance preferred.
Broadbased experience and knowledge in privacy and information security laws and experience in providing practical and actional guidance in product development and process changes.
Juris Doctor Degree; member in good standing of a state bar (CA preferred).
CIPP certification a plus.
Willingness to undertake substantial and diverse job responsibilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of legal and business teams.
Ability to quickly pivot to changing business priorities.
Willingness to explore and identify creative alternative solutions to facilitate business initiatives.
Broadbased knowledge of privacy laws and regulations both financial servicesrelated and general consumer protection.
Broadbased knowledge of consumer financial services.
Attention to detail and follow through.
Ability to communicate in clear and concise manner; ability to communicate complex legal issues in laymens terms to all levels of the organization.
Ability to research in a thorough and effective manner and to analyze and distill complex legal requirements into a usable and practical framework.
Ability to multitask under tight deadlines and manage competing priorities.
Work Environment
Employees in this class are subject to extended periods of sitting standing and walking vision to monitor and moderate noise levels. Work is performed in an office environment.
The posted salary range for this job takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; geographic location and other business and organizational needs. Successful candidates may be hired anywhere in the salary range based on these factors. It is uncommon to hire candidates at or near the top of the range.
