Job Description

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose California building an allelectric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing manufacturing and operating an allelectric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What youll do:

  • Develop and refine manufacturing processes for primary and secondary airframe structures focusing on composite layups bonding trimming and any required metallic subassemblies.
  • Collaborate with design quality and analysis teams to embed manufacturability and certification requirements into early airframe concepts addressing potential assembly challenges before they escalate.
  • Create and maintain tooling solutions fixtures and assembly aids tailored for prototype builds ensuring precise alignment and repeatable outcomes without overcomplicating the process for lowvolume production.
  • Troubleshoot realtime build issues on the shop floor driving rootcause analysis and implementing immediate costeffective solutions to keep schedules on track.
  • Coordinate with supply chain partners and certification authorities (FAA/EASA) to confirm material specs ensure regulatory compliance and support test and inspection milestones for the airframe.
  • Provide mentorship to junior manufacturing engineers and technicians fostering a handson problemsolving culture that prioritizes safety quality and speed of iteration.

What you need:

  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 5 years of handson experience in aerospace manufacturing with a proven track record in airframe assembly and composite structure builds; EVTOL or experimental aircraft work is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in CAD (e.g. CATIA NX) and familiarity with digital manufacturing systems (PLM/MES); comfortable adapting to evolving prototype requirements.
  • Solid understanding of DFM principles for composite structures including layup sequences bonding techniques and cure processes.
  • Excellent communication skills the ability to thrive in a rapiditeration environment and a bias toward action when solving complex handson problems.

Actual compensation offered will be determined by factors such as jobrelated knowledge skills and experience.
