The Digital Modernization Sector has an exciting career opportunity for a DevSecOps Engineer in El Segundo CA to support the US Space Forces Space Systems Command (SSC) Operational Command and Control Acquisition Delta known as Kobayashi Maru. This role is instrumental in the development and deployment of mission critical software for space defense space domain awareness and enabling data services. This position is 80 hands on keyboard tactical engineering and 20 product/team Platform Operations.
THE CHALLENGE (primary responsibilities)
- Design implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for secure automated software delivery.
- Develop infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform Ansible or CloudFormation.
- Virtualization and Infrastructure Management:
- Create manage and optimize virtual machines using Hypervisor technologies such as VMware vSphere HyperV or KVM.
- Configure and maintain virtualized environments to ensure performance scalability and security.
- Support infrastructure modernization efforts by integrating virtualization solutions into hybrid cloud environments.
- Security Integration:
- Embed security best practices into the SDLC and CI/CD processes.
- Implement automated security tools for vulnerability scanning static/dynamic application security testing (SAST/DAST) and container security.
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with organizational and industry security standards (e.g. NIST DoD ISO).
- Cloud and Infrastructure Management:
- Deploy and manage applications on cloud platforms such as AWS Azure Google Cloud or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
- Maintain high availability scalability and performance of cloudbased systems.
- Configure and optimize container orchestration platforms (e.g. Kubernetes Docker).
- Monitoring and Incident Management:
- Establish proactive monitoring solutions to ensure system reliability and availability.
- Respond to and troubleshoot production incidents performing root cause analysis and resolution.
- Collaboration and Mentorship:
- Work closely with crossfunctional teams including developers QA and security professionals.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous improvement of DevSecOps practices.
WHAT SETS YOU APART (basic qualifications)
- US Citizen and Possession of a current DoD Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a (TS/SCI)
- Bachelors Degree and minimum 6 years of professional experience as a DevSecOps Engineer.
- Bachelors degree in computer science Software Engineering STEM or IT from an accredited institution
- Possession of at least one of the following certifications:
- Cloud Solutions Architect
- Cloud Azure DevOps Engineer
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA) certification or equivalent
- Certification: Active DoD 8570 IAT Level II or higher certification (e.g. Security).
Your resume must demonstrate experience:
- Proficiency in programming/scripting languages (e.g. Python Java Bash Go).
- Experience with configuration management and orchestration tools (e.g. Terraform Ansible Puppet).
- Deep understanding of CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins GitLab CI GitHub Actions Azure DevOps).
- Handson experience with containerization and orchestration (e.g. Docker Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of security principles including threat modeling vulnerability assessments and encryption techniques.
- Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. Prometheus Grafana Splunk ELK Stack).
- Solid understanding of networking Linux/Unix systems and version control systems (e.g. Git)
Preferred Qualificationsnot required.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience as a DevSecOps Engineer
- Industry Professional certification Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) Kubernetes and Cloud Native Associate (KCNA)
- Masters degree in computer science Software Engineering STEM or IT from an accredited institution
