Job Description

Technical Support Specialist

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provide front line technical support to CHGR; faculty staff and students. Install troubleshoot and support a broad range of applications. Including but not limited to the standard Microsoft and Adobe product range as well as more specialized scientific computing applications. Troubleshoot clientserver connection issues including email and file server services.

Analyzes and resolves complex customer and technical problems involving multiple technologies and platforms in an enterprise environment. Research and recommend equipment and application purchases on an ongoing basis. Explore test and implement new IT solutions and services as required. Collaborate with faculty researchers and staff to streamline processes using information technology solutions.

Perform IT services as appropriate and required including user accounts file/print backup/restore and virtualization. Participate in project work as required; including nonbusiness hour and offsite deployments (e.g. nights and weekends). Ensures that all users are compliant with Partners policy regarding encryption on mobile devices and peripherals.

Provides customized and creative solutions for a wide variety of situations. Takes ownership of customer issues and projects from first contact to resolution. Provides regular updates on ongoing issues via helpdesk ticketing system.

Responsible for providing AV support for CHGR seminars and meetings.

When requested provide AV support for other groups or events on and off of the MGH campus.

BASIC QUALIFCATIONS

35 years experience providing helpdesk support in a complex environment.

Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp new technical concepts and deal professionally with an often stressed customer base working on tight deadlines. Ability to master new skills and work independently and within a group. BA/BS a plus.
