Job Description
Create and support a rapidly expanding Network Infrastructure for the Mecklenburg EMS Agency. Deliver mission critical network infrastructure and ensure highest level of availability performance and security across all networks.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and provides enterprise support for all LAN WAN Internet and Intranet infrastructure throughout the organization.
- Maintains computing environment by identifying network requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring network performance.
- Upgrades network by conferring with vendors; developing testing evaluating and installing enhancements and patches.
- Maintains network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis and performance tuning and troubleshooting network problems.
- Secures network by developing network access monitoring control and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
- Establishes network specifications policies and procedures in line with Agency guidelines by analyzing workflows access information and security requirements.
- Ensure network connectivity throughout a companys LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations.
- Provides input to management for network design procurement of network equipment and supplies.
- Assumes oncall responsibilities for server and network issues that may arise after hours.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- AS/BS degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related subject.
- Proven working experience in installing configuring and troubleshooting enterprise level network environments. Knowledge of research methods and techniques for networking solutions. Knowledge of secure network switching/routing and layer 1 cabling. Knowledge in design specification development data communications security and privacy techniques
- Experience with network monitoring systems. Excellent communication skills should be able to work with carriers remotely. Ability to communicate effectively with customers management staff and equipment vendors. Solid networking knowledge (OSI network layers TCP/IP).
CERTIFICATIONS
Technical certificate in Networking (CCNA CCNP)
