Kansas City University College of Dental Medicine seeks an oral surgeon as fulltime or parttime clinical faculty for our new dental school in Joplin Missouri. The faculty member will be responsible for the development of the oral surgery preclinical and clinical protocols and procedures integrating evidencebased best practices with clinical patient care as well as guiding current research and scholarly activity in oral surgery. The oral surgery faculty member will collaborate with and educate the dental Group Practice Leaders Assistant Group Practice Leaders simulation faculty and clinical faculty in the current science of oral surgery for patient care.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Candidates must demonstrate a passion for dentistry and the application of oral surgery therapy didactic principles to preclinical and clinical patient care a strong desire to teach students in a demanding fastpaced academic environment
- Develop goals objectives and policies for the dental education program within the KCU College of Dental Medicine
- Implement and deliver the oral surgery didactic curriculum including preclinical materials simulation and laboratory exercises
- Integrate evidencebased best practices with clinical patient care and guide current research and scholarly activity in oral surgery
- Assure the safe and effective delivery of dental care by the dental students
- Deliver clinical treatment for patients as needed in the Oral Health Center
- Serve as an advisor coach and/or mentor to dental students expressing a desire for advanced education in oral surgery
- Mentor dental student research in the area of oral surgery when applicable
- Serve as faculty advisor for communitybased activities in the realm of oral surgery
- Conduct summative and formative preclinical and clinical student assessment in oral surgery
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervising faculty or Dean
Qualifications:
- D.D.S./D.M.D. degree
- Certificate of completion of a CODA accredited Advanced Education Program in oral and maxillofacial surgery
- Current Missouri dental license or have an active dental license in a US state or Canada and be eligible for licensure in Missouri
- Must be boardcertified or boardeligible in oral surgery
- A strong desire to improve the oral and overall health for patients in the region through collaboration with other primary care professionals is encouraged
