Job Description/Responsibilities

Responsible for plant wide controls & electrical infrastructure (instrumentation programmable logic controllers human machine interfaces distributed control systems & associated programming). Includes both simple and complex new installation; mentors trains & coaches technicians; Review of billing and tariffs makes recommendations to improve efficiency/lower costs. Organize workloads provide technical support & manage work quality to ensure uptime and good quality product.

  • Lead the Engineering of a production automation plan for BBK that will specify and develop hardware and software control platforms throughout the plant. The platforms will include programmable logic controllers (PLC) Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) and distributed control systems (DCS). Support production through engineering implementation of modification and troubleshooting programs and other control systems. Work to develop an expandable distributed control and monitoring system plant wide. Leads the implementation of electrical distribution system. Update and add to the ACAD Single Line Electrical drawing. Identify cost savings.
  • The Controls/Electrical Engineer will establish a uniform platform that includes safety for all our PLC controlled systems. Lead the implementation training and upkeep of an Arc Flash program. The position will also make sure control /electric panels are safe and clearly marked. Implement arc flash studies and supervise and train Technicians. The position will remain current in electric codes NEC and NFPA.
  • Train and coaches Electrical Technicians who support the facilities and electrical/ automation needs. Evaluates employee performance and skill level to determine skill improvement needs. Develop individual improvement plans to improve skills and competencies with electrical distribution controls and instruments.
  • Ensure adherence to Personal Safety Food Safety Quality and Environmental Policies and Practices. Lead the development and ongoing updates of Electrical and ISO related Work Instructions.
  • Meets and exceeds customer expectations by supervising contractors and Maintenance Technicians to deliver products on time within budget and meeting quality specifications. Troubleshoots operating problems. Develop corrective Action Plans using sound engineering principals. Supervise the implementation of the CA plans and follow up by using Company Systems (GUI) with actions and results. Monitor electric utility usage and tariffs. Make recommendations as necessary based on sound engineering.
  • Provide leadership to Maintenance Technicians and all employees that is consistent with the Sazerac culture goals. Treat employees fairly and with respect. Create a team environment where all employees are encouraged to make a difference in meeting and exceeding customer expectations. Participate in efforts to address issues identified through climate surveys and help make the Company one of the industrys most desired places to be.
  • Ensures all projects and initiatives are engineered and implemented in compliance with regulatory and environmental guidelines. Engineer systems to collect digital data from instruments as required by environmental permit requirements.
  • Keeps abreast of all relevant technological advancements by taking advantage of learning opportunities. Implement personalized training plans for Maintenance Technicians to raise their level of electrical and controls knowledge and skills necessary to make routine repairs and modification within the facility.
  • Assist in development of a preventative/predictive maintenance (PM) program for electrical systems controls and instruments to include program backup program logging documentation instrument calibration thermography and arc flash. Can use hand tools when necessary to perform work and to trouble . Maintain the documentation of repairs and PM activities in order to monitor effectiveness of PM procedures. Work with the plant team to implement and maintain an effective Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Ensure that all PCs used to interface with controls have the latest version of the software.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Associates degree inelectrical engineering computer science or related field
  • Five years of relevant experience (minimum)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Hands on electrical experience; equipment trouble shooting experience
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products (Word Excel and Outlook)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong planning and organizational skills

Preferred

  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering computer science or related field
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC programming
  • Previous supervisor experience
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
