Job Description

Position Summary
The Gil Internship Manager is responsible for the planning coordination and administration of the undergraduate Internship Program and other special programs in Psychology and Neuroscience. In this positions primary role of managing the internship program the individual will work closely with the Internship Program Director to formulate and execute policies and procedures including site selection procedures student application and selection procedures and program evaluation procedures. This position will develop internship opportunities by identifying potential sites traveling to sites to evaluate suitability and to meet with potential sponsors and establishing and maintaining professional relationships with key personnel at the sites. This role develops and implements all record keeping processes and procedures required to support the program and is responsible for program budget development and financial administration including monitoring and processing program expenses. This individual develops marketing and informational materials and communicates with students and sponsors via email website and other means as appropriate. This position conducts ongoing evaluation of the quality of student experiences and will track and evaluate postgraduation activities of alums. This position will advise students on internship opportunities and will manage the placement training and performance of interns. Additionally this position provides administrative support for other special undergraduate programs in the department.

Required Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Must have the ability to develop and maintain systems for recordkeeping program evaluation and budget management. Must have the ability to develop and implement policies and procedures to achieve program goals. Must have some experience with experiential learning opportunities and the ability to advise students and match them to appropriate internship placements to help them meet their learning objectives. Must have excellent written communication skills including the ability to independently draft formal and informal correspondence and reports in support of the internship program. The successful candidate must be able to employ professional and personable verbal communication skills as well as the ability to develop and maintain professional working relationships in order to cultivate internship opportunities with a variety of sponsors. Must be able to independently research analyze and interpret policies and procedures and to communicate them clearly to students faculty sponsors and staff. Must possess the ability to exercise independent judgment and to demonstrate effective decisionmaking skills as well as to maintain discretion regarding confidential matters. Excellent customer service skills and a professional demeanor are essential. A strong attentiontodetail is required to process transactions including internship appointments course enrollments and financial transactions accurately. Must be able to coordinate and manage a broad scope of work operations and to maintain flexibility in a fastpaced work environment. The successful applicant will be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications Competencies And Experience
Strongly prefer experience in Psychology course work as a student or in a student support role. Prefer candidate with experience in such areas as administering an internship program student services and/or student advising. Knowledge of university systems policies and procedures is a plus. In particular experience with Connect Carolina student actions and/or financial transactions and Web Travel would be helpful.

Work Schedule
M F 40 hours per week during standard business hours with occasional evenings and/or weekend hours
