The Louisiana Special Schools are experiencing a criticalshortage of certified teachers school counselorsinterpreters and educators of the Deaf or hard of hearing.

The Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired is seeking applicants for a
TEACHER ORIENTATION & MOBILIITY LSVI

This is a full time 9 months and 8 hours per day position.

RELEASE OF ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION INFORMATION: La. R.S. 17:3884(D) requires that any school board wishing to hire a person who has been assessed or evaluated pursuant to the Children First Act La. R.S. 17:3871 et seq. whether that person is already employed by that school system or not shall request such persons assessment and evaluation results as part of the application process. Please be advised that as part of the mandated process your previous assessment and evaluation results will be requested.   • Administer prescribed pre and post tests to evaluate the student progress.
  • Provide input for decisions regarding placement of children in appropriate educational programs.
  • Use designated curricula and materials in the teaching/learning process in a variety of approaches and techniques that develop lesson objectives to meet student needs.
  • Prepare and utilize appropriate materials to meet specific needs of the child and the family.
  • Develop weekly lesson plans for students PreK12th grade for supervisory review.
  • Specify learner outcomes in clear concise objectives; include activities that develop objectives; identify materials needed for lessons; and state method(s) of evaluation.

  • Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in attendance and in meeting obligations.
  • Exhibit professional ethics.
  • Exhibit initiative recognizing and following established communication channels.
  • Exhibit a willingness to accept and use suggestions for improvement.
  • Use time effectively.
  • May be required to develop and implement a Professional Growth Plan in consultation with the designated supervisor.
