Job Description

Substitute Instructional Assistant for Early Intervention / Early Childhood Special Education (EI/ECSE) needed on an on call basis forworkingwith children birth to 5 years with special needs.


We have Early Intervention/Early Childhood Special Education Programs in Albany Corvallis and Crawfordsville Newport and Taft. POSITION OVERVIEW


This dynamic role supports students families and their colleagues in the learning environment. Working with kids and helping them learn academically socially and behaviorally is what we do and this role is at the heart of this work. This ever changing and rewarding work is paramount in the success of every classroom.

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. At least 18 years of age.
  2. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  3. Working knowledge of developmental and physical disabilities in children.
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
  5. Working knowledge of computer programs including word processing and databases.
  6. Meet requirements of fingerprintbased criminal history record verification.

GENERAL INFORMATION

This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilitities.

  2. Maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices.
  3. Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including Oregon Revised Statutes (ORS) Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and the Childrens Internet Protection Act (CIPA).
  4. Exceptional prioritization of tasks timely completion of work assignments.
  5. Demonstrates respectful flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation communication and active participation.
  6. Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
  7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives find requested data and present in userfriendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  8. Be punctual in meeting deadlines attending meetings and following schedules.
  9. Ability to lift carry or transport up to 40 lbs. and have the strength and agility to assist children with special needs.
  10. Must be able to kneel crouch sit and move from the floor to standing sit on child sized furniture while working with children throughout the day.
  11. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.
  12. Ability to provide own transportation to school preschools community settings as deemed necessary.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR EARLY INTERVENTION/EARLY CHILDHOOD SPECIAL EDUCATION

This is not necessarily an exhaustive or allinclusive list of responsibilities skills and duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time its deemed necessary.

  1. Carryout specialists plans for instruction during individual and small group activities.
  2. Carryout specialists plans for children in community preschool settings.
  3. Assist in implementation of behavior programs.
  4. Assist in lifting physically disabled children.
  5. Work with children to improve eating dressing hygiene and toileting skills.
  6. Stimulate language through receptive and expressive language programs and/or augmentative communication strategies.
  7. Facilitate peer interaction.
  8. Keep data as required by the specialist.
  9. Keep teaching materials and other equipment in order.
  10. Prepare bulletin boards room decorations and other materials as requested.
  11. Keep attendance records.
  12. Assist with playground and bus duty.
  13. Complete data entry typing and filing as requested by the specialist.
