Job Description
Position Title: Gifted & Talented (GT) and Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM): Elementary School Teacher
Qualifications:
- Valid Arkansas teaching license
- GT endorsement or in process of getting GT Endorsement
Reports to: Principal/Assistant Principal & Director of Gifted Programs
Terms of Employment:190 days with benefits according to Siloam Springs School
Board policies
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Deliver appropriate programming for identified gifted students
- Maintain all documentation needed for state monitoring of the elementary school GT program
- Conduct testing for the gifted & talented program
- Collaborate with classroom teachers
- Plan units of study that meet the individual needs interests and abilities of the students
- Monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly
- Create positive educational climate for students that is conducive to learning
- Establish classroom behavior expectations and procedures that create a climate where all members are valued
- Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student progress
- Effectively implement district initiatives
- Attend state GT conference
- Plan and coordinate parent and community engagement events related to STEAM/GT
- Plan and prepare engaging integrated lessons for K2 Science Technology Engineering Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) aligned to Arkansas standards which enhance and support regular Science classroom instruction
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Abide by state statutes school board policies and regulations
- Attend meetings and perform duties as assigned by administrators or directors
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities
- Maintain accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation
- Serve on committees as assigned
- Remain current on instructional practices in education
