Job Description

Job Summary
The Director of Information Security will develop implement and maintain robust security measures policies and procedures to safeguard sensitive data and mitigate potential risks. The Director of Information Security is responsible for recommending security measures to the Vice President of Operations and College administration who determine the acceptable level of risk. The Director of Information Security works with IT Infrastructure and Network Services to help monitor information systems for alarms and conditions to prevent detect and manage IT security incidents. While maintaining a secure environment the Director of Information Security will also ensure that secure policies support effective operations for our end users and that we can effectively work with our partners securely and efficiently.

Essential Functions
Ensure compliance with all relevant cybersecurity laws regulations and standards including Texasspecific requirements and federal laws such as FERPA Develop and maintain a cybersecurity awareness training program ensuring all staff complete required training and maintain accurate records of completion Oversee the Colleges security posture through regular risk assessments vulnerability analyses and audits Develop implement and maintain a comprehensive information security program aligned with the Colleges goals and risk tolerance Recommend and oversee the implementation of security controls and mitigation strategies Manage thirdparty risk including verifying TxRAMP certification and conducting HECVAT assessments for cloud providers Lead and coordinate incident response and crisis management efforts Serve as the primary liaison for securityrelated matters providing excellent customer service to internal stakeholders Develop and enforce security policies procedures and standards focusing on information security and enduser experience Collaborate with IT staff and other departments to integrate security into college operations Monitor emerging security threats and adjust strategies accordingly Report on the Colleges cybersecurity posture to senior leadership including an annual presentation to the College president and cabinet Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50 of the time The person in this position needs to occasionally move or drive to other locations on and off campus Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation Use of manual dexterity The person in this position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information Frequently moves boxes or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds Duties indoors and some outdoors This position may require occasional travel for training meetings and events both in and out of town

Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems Cybersecurity or related field and two years of relevant work experience or five years of experience in a network or information security role Knowledge of network architecture systems administration and cloud technologies Demonstrated experience in risk management security policy development and incident response Excellent communication skills both written and verbal to effectively convey complex technical information to nontechnical stakeholders Familiarity with compliance requirements relevant to higher education such as the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act FERPA Must possess a valid Texas Drivers license good driving record and be insurable on Midland Colleges insurance policy

Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications such as CISSP CISM or equivalent Advanced degree in Information Security Cybersecurity or a related field Experience designing and delivering security awareness training or conducting security audits Demonstrated leadership experience Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to address complex security challenges
