Job Description

New Heights Charter School is Massachusetts only public school that involves all grades 612 in the Early College approach. Nearly all our 11th and 12th graders are fulltime students on a college campus with younger students earning college credits at the school. You will join a committed creative team of educators who provide academic and socialemotional support to young people coming from highneed backgrounds ensuring they are college and career ready. At New Heights we respect and honor all community members their diverse backgrounds knowledge and experiences.Job OverviewUnder the direction of the Director of Student Services the School Psychologist will provide consultation assessment and intervention services in order to meet the diverse needs of the students at NHCSB.Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial evaluations and 3year reevaluations including cognitive executive functioning socialemotional and behavioral and neuropsychological testing as needed.
  • Write evaluation reports including all cognitive socialemotional and behavioral assessments and goals.
  • Collaborate with other members of the IEP Team to create IEPs for annual reviews and provides input for students who are participating in initial or 3year reevaluations.
  • Participate in special education meetings dispute resolution meetings hearings and mediation settlement meetings as needed.
  • Schedule and facilitate 504 Plan meetings and develop and monitor 504 service plans for students who require 504 Plan accommodations.
  • Serve as a member of the Student Support Team (SST) and provide prereferral consultation to classroom teachers learning specialists and other school staff regarding student progress behavior management techniques and individualized behavior management plans.
  • Determine and maintain therapeutic interventions (via 1:1 small group and/or pushin) based on individualized student goals and engage in ongoing progress monitoring.
  • Implement Tier 1 and Tier 2 socialemotional learning (SEL) intervention groups and support those implemented by other members of the school and support staff.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments for students who present with selfinjurious behavior or express ideation related to hurting themselves or others.
  • Complete quarterly IEP 504 Plan and intervention counseling progress reports for all students on caseload.
  • In consultation with the Student Support Coordinator conduct outreach activities that support our students and families including pediatricians outside counseling agencies and agencies such as DCF DMH etc.
  • Complete Medicaid reimbursement / billing activities as needed for students who receive Grid C support.
  • Maintain the legal confidentiality and privacy of student information while collaborating with students special education or support teams.
  • Maintain compliance with all state and federal regulations as well as local policies in performance of duties.
  • Perform other duties related to this job description as required by the school Principal or other immediate supervisor
