Position Overview
As the Manager Workforce Strategy you will drive the creation and of workforce strategies that align with our organizational priorities. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that we meet both current and future workforce needs. By collaborating closely with business partners and key stakeholders you will integrate comprehensive workforce development strategies into our employment initiatives and workforce agreements. Your leadership will be instrumental in creating job opportunities and fostering the growth of a skilled and inclusive workforce.
In this role you will:
Lead the development and implementation of PAIR employment goals and strategies. You will collaborate with key stakeholders to monitor and report progress support governance and promote diversity and inclusion. Additionally you will provide guidance and proactive support to meet the current and future targets established in the PAIR certification process.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and major projects to develop cohesive workforce strategies and integrated workforce plans.
- Develop and negotiate agreements and employment partnerships to meet organizational resourcing needs and increase participation of underrepresented groups.
- Partner with Indigenous communities educational institutions ISETs unions trade organizations and municipalities to advance employment opportunities.
- Provide direction and leadership as a subject matter expert in achieving equitable representation of Indigenous persons in the workplace.
- Recruit and retain Indigenous talent support their career development and advancement and promote mobility throughout employment sectors and levels.
- Provide training and support for Indigenous employees through specific programs or actions.
- Offer strategic advice and recommendations to support operational excellence and increase opportunities for Indigenous and underrepresented groups.
- Collaborate with the team and senior leaders to ensure compliance with company policies employment and labor laws regulations legal and arbitral jurisprudence and collective agreement provisions.
- Develop and implement strategies aligned with FortisBC values to foster a healthy and inclusive workplace culture.
- Forecast future workforce needs analyze workforce data and create action plans to address gaps particularly for Indigenous and underrepresented groups.
- Lead and mentor a team of workforce development professionals fostering a collaborative and highperformance culture.
- Identify emerging skills and competencies needed for the future encourage continuous learning and development and implement innovative practices to ensure workforce adaptability and resilience.
- Regularly assess the effectiveness of workforce initiatives and make necessary adjustments to enhance overall workforce performance and engagement with a focus on increasing participation and support for Indigenous and underrepresented communities
What it takes:
- A bachelors degree with specialization in human resources workforce development labor relations employment law or a related discipline from a recognized program plus a minimum of eight years of recent and related experience within a leadership capacity.
- An equivalent combination of education related training and experience may be considered.
- Understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the United Nations Declaration of Rights of Indigenous Peoples as well as British Columbias Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
- Experience working in a regulated or unionized environment considered an asset.
Additional Information
- This position requires travel throughout our service territory.
- A valid class Canadian drivers license will be required.
In this role you will have the option to participate in a flexible work program enabling you to work from an approved flex location in British Columbia up to 85 days a year (equivalent to approximately two days a week) subject to business or operational needs.
