This vacancy is located in the Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control and is currently being announced for East Baton Rouge Parish.

The Office of Alcohol & Tobacco Control (ATC) is responsible for overseeing the alcoholic and tobacco industries within the state. The office is comprised of four divisions: Administrative Business Legal and Enforcement.

AN IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES:
  • Focusing on Customers: The ability to serve the needs of those who support and/or rely on the services provided.
  • Making Accurate Judgments: The ability to form an opinion objectively and decisively based on relevant information and in accordance with established standards.
  • Using Data: The ability to use relevant and valid data to inform a recommendation for action.


This position will be filled as a Classified WAE (CWAE). Incumbents in these positions may not work more than 1245 hours within a 12month period.

This posting may be used to fill vacancies in other divisions available within the Louisiana Department of Revenue within 90 days of the closing date.

No Civil Service test scoreis required in order to be considered for this vacancy.

A Tax and Natural Disaster Clearance will be conducted on all selected applicants to validate the timely submission of tax returns and payments. It is a requirement that all Revenue employees must adhere to all tax laws of the State of Louisiana.

LA R.S.15:587.5 587.6 and the IRS require the Louisiana Department of Revenue to conduct a criminal history records check of a prospective employee who will access federal tax information to perform job duties. Any applicant who receives and accepts a conditional offer of employment will require a completed criminal history records check prior to his or her first day of work.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Two years of experience or training in clerical work.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 15 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will substitute for six months of the required experience.

To assist taxpayers by analyzing adjusting collecting payments and resolving discrepancies on accounts relative to tax due notices.

General from Revenue Tax Analyst Supervisor or higherlevel personnel.

Supervision Exercised:
None.

Department of Revenue.

Job Distinctions:
Differs from Revenue Tax Analyst 1 by the presence of experiencedlevel duties.

Differs from Revenue Tax Analyst 3 by the absence of more complex responsibilities.

Examples of Work

Assists taxpayers in preparing tax forms tax returns and tax registration forms; responds to inquiries regarding such.

Determines validity and accuracy of assessed tax liabilities by reviewing forms documents and payments for compliance with tax laws.

Contacts taxpayers to clarify and obtain information; informs taxpayer of tax account status legal rights and obligations and computes penalty and interest.

Determines appropriate collection action (i.e. informal installment agreement penalty waiver extensions etc. as a means of satisfying liabilities based on account history and taxpayer response.

Initiates billings on accounts not complying with filing requirements by calculating and assessing tax amount.

Sells cigarette tax stamps to authorized wholesale tobacco dealers; prepares reports on sales.
